FIFTY years ago this week President John Kennedy was assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald, a Castro-supporting communist who had learned to shoot straight while in the US Marines. Half a century later, 61% of Americans believe in a conspiracy. Amazingly, this is the lowest level since the late 1960s.
Poster comments: There was no second gunman. There was no conspiracy.
There also was not a herd of pink elephants walking in the Reflecting Pool in DC, but I can't prove there wasn't. See the point?
Were a lot of Texans protestant at the time? Not pleased with a catholic president?
Further southwest (Arizona), they just did not like his pappy and it was goldwater country.
That probably was part of it. I’m not sure how much that really played into things, as I was only 12 at the time, but as I understand it, most folks my age don’t realize how big a deal Catholicism was as it grew in our nation.
Of course dad was a monster. His treatment of his wife was abominable. He used to bring his movie actress girl-friend(s) home to have dinner with his wife and the kids. Now there’s some real class for ya.
Bill Clinton modeled his life on J. F. K., and we can see what that led to.
Dallas still had a sizable Catholic population:

Map of Catholic Schools in Dallas. Seem quite a bit. One could say maybe they have more Catholic Schools now. That’s a possibility but let’s also remember, Catholic Schools in many instances have struggled to say open. Anyway, I know many of those schools have existed there before 1963. So, it may be Bible Belt but clearly, other faiths were there as well.
VERY GOOD!!!!!!!
I agree with your comments there. Thanks for the response.
Been away, hadn’t seen this reply. I hope in that time you realize what you have said..
1st. You must have had the same question as evident in your response. But, who am I to ask just to get slapped down by the all knowing you?
