This guy is no conservative. Obviously. Blindly following political slogans that turn out to be false really sucks — doesn’t it, Mike?
Liberal blogger and representative on the health care committee at the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn), turned to the liberal blog The Daily Kos, on Monday to decry the negative impact he says President Barack Obama’s signature health care law is having on grad students at his Ivy League school. ”For us, at least in the college health insurance market, the ACA has truly been the ‘law of unintended consequences,’ wrote Micheal Convente on The Daily Kos, on Monday. ”[R]elying on marketing slogans, some of which turned out not to be so correct, is turning out to be problematic,” he lamented. Convente said the “progressive” UPenn Student Health Insurance Advisory Committee (SHIAC), on which he serves, doesn’t mind funding artificial limbs or even gender reassignment surgery, but that forcing poor college students to pay for health care for children, which most don’t use, is becoming a burden.
Being an incurable ideologue, Convente insists that he still supports the law, even though it’s doing real harm to the people around him. Good stuff. What’s extra tasty about his sad-face post is that it’s attached to another DailyKos diary entry entitled, “Confessions of an Obamacare advocate with cancelled policy, facing 38 percent premium hike.” Which is not to be confused with a separate ferocious DailyKos rant authored by an embittered Obamacare fan back in September (“what the hell kind of reform is this?”) Since we’re on the subjects of dumped coverage and sticker shock, it had been awhile since I’d checked in on MyCancellation.com – but a Florida family’s plight caught my attention on Twitter just yesterday. Thanks, Obamacare:
If you can’t read the fine print, I’ll translate: This household’s existing health plan featured a $5,000 deductible with monthly premiums of $408. That coverage has now been cancelled, thanks to the so-called Affordable Care Act. The new “deal:” $671 per month in premiums with a deductible of $12,500. And before you cry “anecdote,” do note that the list goes on and on. And it’s going to get worse.
Hey, but because Obama tried to satisfy Sandra Fluke, at least you get your contraceptives paid for...
DailyKos had a big banner ordering Reid to go nuclear in the last month.
But they’ll still fall for the same marketing package on immigration reform and all the other liberal talking points.
They never learn.
You mean they are wising up that Obamacare is not about healthcare. Instead they have no future except being a slave.
Grad students are being told to find work in non-profit or gov and have them pick up the tab for their student loans.
My niece was told this.
Rat’s answer to this - “Go on Pop’s policy.”
Monkeys that play with fire and get burned are still monkeys the next day ping!
All is well in LA LA land.
Today the WH gave its marching orders to their liberal media sycophants.
Did you catch Juan Williams on “The Five” ?
My take aways:
It’s the marketing message that needs work.
When the website is up and running, everything will be OK.
I don’t think they want to discuss the “kick-backs” that will be paid to insurance companies. They are calling them “Risk-Corridors”.
Yep, one just cannot fix stupid.
When people start asking me about what is going on, the first thing I do is ask them if they vote.
If they say no, I retort “So, how does it feel to make a moron look smart?” When they bristle I tell them that people called me a moron for years as I tried to alert them to this disaster.
If they say yes, I tell them the same thing. Then I laugh or at least snicker. I could really care less what someone thinks of me or my opinions now because they figured their laziness to pay attention to civics could be bolstered by my focus on EVERYTHING that affects our daily lives.
Can’t the college kids stay on their parents’ policies until they’re 26 or so?
What kind of cognitive dissonance do you have to suffer from to still “support” a plan that is actively HURTING YOU?
Wouldn’t that “support” be better labeled “enabling?” Like the wife who gets her husband another beer, while knowing that soon he will be slamming her against the wall again?
i think the reason all these libs are saying that they still support Obamacare is because they don’t want to admit that only now that they are personally affected have they turned against Obamacare.
Bend over Daily Kooks...you’re going to get it...good and hard.
Dear Michael Cavente,
You are a useful tool. It was always intended that the people, who won life’s DNA lottery (i.e., Ivy Leaguers, and everybody making less) will foot the bill for those who cannot or, don’t feel like (i.e., low information voters).
Maybe since you are as clueless as the low-info people, they will give you a discount.

How long before the Dems propose taking Obamacare premiums out of the peoples PAYCHECKS, like they started doing shortly after implementing the income tax? You know it is coming!
