Jagger/Richards from Sympathy for the Devil, a song inspired by the Russian novel The Master and Margarita, by M. Bulgakov.

And Lyndon Johnson called direct sale of firearms “mail order murder”.

Never before knew that the assassination literally saved LBJ’s political career & that JFK/RFK had been planning to drop him from the 1964 ticket. For whom, I wonder.

Johnson was hateful. Glad he corked off early.

No he is totally an "R" in all the modern realities of the designation. He is certainly not a conservative or a Democrat. But he is NOT left wing like the left wing hold themselves to be.
All that said, given the realities of the current president and his party, would we be better with Bush for the last 6 years?

Earlier in his career Johnson had a political rival who was mysteriously shot and killed.

Coincidence?

The model 1891 series rifles were made in both 7.35 and 6.5 MM variants. They were manufactured with barrel lengths of ranging from 17.7 in (45 cm) to 30.7 in (70 cm).

Oswald's was a 6.5 MM model 91/38 Fucile di Fanteria, short infantry rifle. Interestingly I can't find the barrel length for his rifle. Not really a carbine. The 7.35 MM Mod. 38 Fucile di Fanteria that preceded the 91/38 FdF had a 20.9 in (50.3 cm) barrel and I suspect that the Italians would have stuck with this when the returned to the old 6.5 MM cartridge in the 91/38. Just looking at pictures of the rifle this seems right.

I think the Senate committee said the Mafia or anti Castro Cubans may be involved. But the were unable to reach any definitive conclusions. As for the alleged fourth shot, the cop whose mike allegedly recorded the fourth shot says that the shot couldn’t come from his mike.

I was actually on with the name Andrew P. Sipowicz for about six months before I took this name.

Poor Andy got banned for some reason.

Unrelated to your post but to all: what is the talk in the prior posts about links?? They are okay to post are they not? Or must be the deal about “Pirate” websites which my link certainly is not.

The “Smoking Gun” theory myself, I find credible.

In hunting down some Conspiracy Theories, you can find some of the wackiest notions. Any projection on what happened needs to pass a reasonableness standard.

Okay.... It was so long ago for me that I forgot that "Human Events" criticized the Senate ruling and, judging from the link, with good reason. It appears the Senate feels there is a conspiracy. I remember now a cartoon where a psychic appears at the Senate committee and says "The committee calls Lee Harvey Oswald."

The reason the Kennedy assassination is surrounded with conspiracy theories is because there is no doubt that the Secret Service was covering up SOMETHING. Their behavior with the medical examiner at Parkland Memorial Hospital alone demonstrates that, and the fact that all forensic protocols were dispensed with.

I feel sorry for George Hickey. He was just doing his job in a totally chaotic situation. He stood up in the limo with the rifle in his hands just as the limo lurched forward. There was no incompetence or malice in what happened. It was just an unfortunate set of circumstances. Oswald was responsible for creating the set of circumstances.

Your tax dollars at work paying for dribble like this: http://www.sfgate.com/opinion/openforum/article/JFK-assassination-reshaped-politics-of-the-right-5000090.php

Conservatives stuck with Goldwater.

If anything, the assassination reshaped politics of the left.

Though Rush is true in what he says.

Respectfully I disagree, to me, what fuels speculation the most is that the accused assassin is shot down in police custody. Even today, that part is the most difficult part to grasp, on national TV and Ruby himself is a shady individual.

Unless you realize what an insecure whiny, narcissistic, wife-beating Communist wannabe Lee H. Oswald was, and how his wife would tease him about how handsome JFK was and how he was begging to get back together with her.

He wanted to be the center of attention so badly he couldn't stand it. After the assassination he was right where he wanted to be. You can see it in his smirk.

In his mind, he was finally getting the respect he deserved.

To your statement, in some ways, one can see Oswald as being an early precursor of the late teens, in their 20s shooters like Jared Loughner, the shooter in Arizona.

That psychological profile fits him better in my opinion than the speculation, maybe wild speculation he had ties to the government.

I watched the CNN special last night, one thing is true, Oswald lied in custody about buying the carcano through the name of Alek Hidell.
