She doesn’t count as a witness? Her testimony doesn’t count as evidence?

Of course she does. However, her credibility can also be challenged.

Of course her credibility can be questioned. Nothing has come out so far to undermine her credibility, but it’s very early.

If the Martin-Zimmerman case has taught us anything, it is that we should not jump to conclusions based on initial reports. That means we shouldn’t condemn Zimmerman yet, of course. But it also means we shouldn’t jump to his defense and say things like ‘there’s no evidence, the charges should be dropped’ when we don’t have any idea of what really happened.
