How do you know the cop’s life wasn’t in danger? Report said one of the “children” was 18. He or she apparently remained in the vehicle but the cop obviously saw him/her. How did the cop know there wasn’t a gun in the car? If the woman had been cooperative, none of this would have happened.

That being said, I have never heard of getting a speeding ticket and having to pay it right then or go to see a judge right then. What if you don’t have the money to pay the ticket? Do you go to jail for speeding or any other traffic infraction?

Many years ago, my husband was pulled over for speeding in South Carolina on our way to Darlington. The officer recited a little speech that went something like, ‘you have been charged and found guilty of speeding. Your fine is $50. You can pay the fine now or proceed to the courthouse and contest the charge but if again found guilty will have to pay court costs and pay the fine there’. We were blown away but also in a hurry. We paid the fine and hit the road with a better understanding why my parents always said be careful driving through the Carolinas and Georgia..

I didn’t know that being an 18 y/o passenger in a car was a threat to a cop. I also didn’t know that the mere possibility that a gun could be in a vehicle makes it OK for a cop to shoot at said vehicle that is carrying children and being driven away.

Would you be blaming the victims if the perp wasn’t a government employee?
