This is where the entitlement mentality is taking us. I hope she & her son face serious charges - assault, child endangerment, public menace, among others.

The cop was foolish to shoot.

Deadly force when she presented no threat to the cop? That’s a felony.

We can debate if the assisting 2nd cop acted rationally. From my observation the entire incident was provoked by a belligerent mother, and later escalated by the 14 year old kid that assaulted the cop while the cop was trying to restrain and arrest the mother. The 2nd cop to arrive evidently knew he was responding to a call for assistance, and upon arrival observes the mother and kid fighting with the cop. At this point I think it’s fair to assume the 2nd cop had no idea what was going on, except for what he observed upon arrival, specifically the woman and kid fighting with the 1st cop. There is no reason to believe the 2nd copy even knew there were kids in the van.

The 2nd cop shooting at the van is a subject for discussion and possible action, partially depending on what he observed upon arrival, or may have known as he responded to the call for backup. I did not see anything that the 1st cop did wrong.

The belligerent woman did just about everything possible to provoke and escalate the incident, and junior further excalated the incident when he jumped in the fray. As a minimum the woman should be booked and prosecuted for failure to yield, child endangerment and for resisting arrest, on top of a speeding ticket. The kid should be arrested and prosecuted for assault on a police officer.

There is nothing shocking about the story. The video clearly shows what happens when you fail to yield to an order by a cop. If the cop is wrong, you can deal with the matter later, rather than the heat of the moment alongside a highway.

Typical liberal response by both her and cops. They both think they have rights above and beyond the law. The Rule of Law is crumbling in this country.

I watched the video. The one cop should not have opened fire, but you could hear the mother clearly several times. It seems like "black woman with attitude" problem that escalated this. All she was going to get was a ticket, the cops were respectful to her, but she thought she was above the law. She ran, and then her son (who is not a little boy, he is adult size) tried to attack the cops.

She talked back to the police, disregarded their instruction, ran from them, and basically tried to use her kids as human shields.

No doubt mommy was stupid, if all she was doing was 71 in a 55, then just like the rest of us, just accept the ticket and be gone.

The son should not have gotten involved.

Imagine the absolute terror of all when the cop started bashing in the window. Even though mom and kid are idiots, many people under such circumstances would have fled.

The cops shooting, why? A mom and kids running away from a cop is not threatening the cops life.

Mommy should get her driving privileges permanently revoked, the cop with the baton should be terminated (employment that is), the cop who fired the gun should go to prison. 30 years ago this probably would have been a reasonable remark to make.

But with today’s race baiters getting blacks to automatically hate whites and white-hispanics, and then cops being more likely to get out of control, gee, things are sure a mess.

THANK YOU TO ALL DEMOCRATS, LEFTIES AND COMMIES FOR TURNING OUR WORLD UPSIDE DOWN.

The cop did not succeed in killing any of the kids. For that failure, he won’t get a commendation, his pay won’t increase and he will be the subject of derision by his fellow “officers”. Extra time on the target range for him. There may well be extra points for killing minorities, we just won’t know about that.

It sounds like she was trying to say that she wanted to get to a more populated area. I would not want to be in a rural area with lots of officers from New Mexico these days.

Why was the turkey smashing the window? She never would have gotten away. What kind of fools are these police.

I was once stopped by a man who pretended to be a police officer. Not a good thing

The lady was from Tennessee and said she was taking her family on an “educational trip.” Her problem began when she showed “attitude” to Hispanic NM State Police officers outside of Taos. Bad combination since the bad guys have been regularly shooting at the NM cops the past couple of weeks.

Comply or die!! Obviously, the cop was shooting at her tires.

The Mother needs to loose her license for life(as if that would stop her from being an idiot) and the young man who exited the vehicle and ENGAGED officers needs incarceration for escalating the stop.

These friggin’ morons just decide to give the cops the middle finger and resist for any reason they want.

The kid is lucky he didnt get shot when he came out of the car.

There’s a law in New Mexico against this:

New Mexico § 30-3-8. Shooting at Dwelling or Occupied Building; Shooting at or From a Motor Vehicle

B. Shooting at or from a motor vehicle consists of willfully discharging a firearm at or from a motor vehicle with reckless disregard for the person of another. Whoever commits shooting at or from a motor vehicle that does not result in great bodily harm to another person is guilty of a fourth degree felony. Whoever commits shooting at or from a motor vehicle that results in injury to another person is guilty of a third degree felony. Whoever commits shooting at or from a motor vehicle that results in great bodily harm to another person is guilty of a second degree felony.

Oh, right. Some Animals are more equal than others.

C. This section shall not apply to a law enforcement officer discharging a firearm in the lawful performance of his duties.
