I’m familiar with the phrase “badge heavy”.
What I am saying is let the cops take care of the shooters, and let at least one paramedic attend to the worst victims-with cover from one of the many cops who were there.
I do know that the number one priority of both cops and paramedics is not to become a victim themselves, and I understand that. But in a hectic situation, I'd rather have a medic decide if I were dead, they are trained to make that determination. It does take a while to bleed out. Just sayin’.
Well they need the protection incase they get attacked by a 2 lb puppy before they have a chance to shoot and kill the puppy.
Besides they think it makes them look tough and cool.

The guy had 26 years on the force, he’s probably dealt with somewhere around a hundred deceased in that time. I agree with some of your ideas, my point is that there is so much speculation, and so little actual information in the article that it’s impossible to tell exactly how things played out. One minute the reporter posits a scenario where the guy is shot and bleeds out for 33 minutes, two paragraphs later, she says he was dead five minutes after he was shot. Lots of sensationalism going on, but not much fact.
I’d agree about having a medic confirm death if there weren’t other unchecked patients who needed immediate care. Part of the mass incident protocol is to make a quick assessment, bypass the dead, and care for the savable. There’s no indication that wasn’t done here.
The article’s short on info and long on hype.

Article reports doctors worked on him at the hospital, so he must have still been alive.
They did over an hour on Michael Jackson at UCLA, even though he was pronounced before he left the scene.

TSA employees do not have arrest powers. Federal agents that work for the TSA do, but those sexually assaulting you at the airport are not law enforcement agents. That said, there have been reports of TSA employees “arresting” people because no one challenges them when they try it.

Exactly. LA has more emergency response personnel than most small countries. Goes to show why trusting these pinheads isn’t very smart.

Not necessarily. Often they continue life saving measures as an assurance that all hope is lost. Sometimes people do revive.
All they knew was their portion of the incident. They got a patient with no vital signs, and the only information they had about how long he’d been down was probably the airport cop’s claim he’d had a pulse ten minutes before. Based on that, they’d work on him ‘til they’d satisfied themselves he was non-savable. As you indicated, nothing can be concluded from the fact he was treated except that, to their knowledge, they had no proof that it would be useless.
FWIW: LAFD, LAPD, FBI, etc just released a press statement saying, in part:
“Command officers and airport administrators were faced with a wide range of important objectives, including conducting a complete search to rule out additional gunmen or explosives, identifying and treating all injured victims and coordinating the needs of the thousands of arriving and departing travelers that were impacted by the incident.”
“In the aftermath of an incident of such significance, we are rightfully evaluating where improvements can be made should we ever be faced with such an incident in the future,”
It further states: some of the statements made regarding the incident are untrue.
