Married man who raped girl three times starting when she was only 14-years-old WILL NOT go to prison despite convictions
An Alabama man will not go to prison despite being convicted of three counts of rape dating back to when his victim was only 14-years-old. Austin Clem, 25, raped the young girl three times between the ages of 14 and 18-years-old and will spend two years in a reform program and three years on probation instead of being locked up. Mr Clem will also have to register as a sex offender, but the slap on the wrist outraged many in the courtroom. This isn't legal. It's not a legal sentence, Ms Andrews, now 20, told AL.com DA Jim Ayers jumped up in court and said. Mr Clem was convicted of one count of first-degree rape for the most recent incident two years ago, and two counts of second-degree rape for the two encounters when she was just 14-years-old. Sentencing guidelines provide for sentences anywhere from 10 to 99 years in prison, but Mr Clem will never see the inside of a cell. My family was very relieved to hear the three guilty verdicts, Courtneys father Richard Andrews told AL.com. We were floored to hear the judge hand down such a light sentence. The convicted rapist will instead spend two years in a reform program administered by the county jail, but intended to keep non-violent offenders out of prison.

“recognition that you have a problem is the first to a cure.”
You should look in the mirror when saying that.
Oh-kay. If someone in that state carries out some street justice, would a jury convict them? Since he is a registered sex offender, he should be easy to find, and with a minimum of fuss or evidence he could be dangling from a tree in short order.
All that would be needed is some rope that is several years old, with no remainder left behind, soaked in bleach solution to destroy any residual DNA, and afterwards to dispose of any old shoes and clothing worn. After soaking it, of course.
It would be a nice touch to hang a sign from his neck, which simply says “RAPIST” on it.
Obviously, nor am I.
I do get frustrated by folks who think that because of the seriousness of the crime, we should be castigated for some logical analysis of the somewhat meager facts and the prejudicial manner in which said facts are presented.
Critical thinking should not be put on hold because the word rape is in the story.
It just gets ridiculous when some woman calls “rape” and the men folk say get a rope
Street justice sucks.
That is why we have courts.
You never coerced a teenage girl?
When you where a Teen?
I just hope Clem learns his lesson and that Courtney learns her lesson.
R.E.S.P.E.C.T.
Not when I was 18 and she 14. Ever.
And I understand the irony of placing faith in the courts.
In this case I think the judge got it right, though If I was the judge I would have given Courtney some community service as well, least we create a monster.
17 14?
Clem was a doofus, NO DOUBT about it.
He is growing up fast.
I hope Courtney grows up too.
I remember as a 19 year-old being seduced by an over-sexed and well-developed 14 year-old who did everything but strip me. It took every ounce of willpower to push her away and pretend I wasn’t interested. I still think about that episode 45 years later and thank God I had the strength to resist her.
Not to defend the guy, but a quick story:
One of my customers brought his granddaughter along yesterday...
She keep doing little cheerleader like things as clapping and little dance steps...I asked what high school she was a cheerleading for...
She said, I'm 13 years old...not in high school...
I would have pegged her for at least 16 years if not older...
It's hard to tell...When I was in high school when dinosaurs roamed the earth...no girl at 13 looked remotely like her...
A 14 year old Alabama girl is almost a spinster.
What...they don’t have cable yet in those trailer parks?
Putting the guy in jail means ruining his family while only helping the victim’s sense of revenge.
The proper sentence is for him to go to jail if he divorces from his family or he loses his job. And he needs to work (or go to jail) at least 14 days a year (two weeks vacation) with the proceeds going to the victim for the next 10 years.
Not a great result but the best for a bad situation.
The law might say that but many 14 year old girls say other wise.
SO DO MUSLIMS!
This story is an over-exaggeration of the facts. He was 18 and she was 14 when they first had sex. And she comes forward at the age of 20 — 6 years later??? Why??? Is it because he married someone else???
Let me just put it in a little bit?
The law is clear....if someone lies that is a different issue.
Plus the fact why in the world would anyone advocate for someone who is an adult having sex (raping) an under aged child??? This society didn’t used to tolerate such beaver. When I was growing up a ‘boy’ or a ‘man’ who did such a thing was considered to be a bad actor not a hero.
