A day after they were caught off guard by President Obama’s proposal to prevent cancellation of insurance policies for millions of Americans, top executives of some of the biggest insurance companies emerged from a meeting at the White House on Friday, expressing mixed feelings about whether the idea could work in every state.

The hastily called meeting was an attempt by the White House to address the growing frustration of the nation’s insurers over the administration’s fumbling of the health care law. It came just a day after the president announced on television that insurers could now continue coverage for people whose policies were being canceled because they did not meet the new law’s standards.

The cancellations had left the president vulnerable to assertions that he had gone back on an often-repeated promise that consumers could keep their current plans if they were happy with them....

First of all, it’s a shame these executives would even show up at a “hasitly called” meeting.

Second, the government is going to promise to make up for their loses. Totally illegal but “what difference does it make?”

Someone needs to file a qui tam action in federal court against Obama trying to defraud the United States government by encouraging insurers to break the law.

Reminds me of the poem "The Walrus and The Carpenter".

<...”They did not discuss in detail how the president’s goal might be achieved”....>

Once again we see the Insurance people and Obama duking it out....and of course Obama getting the cart before the horse in committing them to something he had not mentioned to them at all before making his speech......

HE’s continuing to manipulate and control the huge political hole in his boat as well as the Democratic Party......and it matters not who it affects along the way......

The Feds did the same to the banks in the crash by making them buy banks like Countrywide and are now screwing them for buying the bad mortgages the Countrywide had. This mess will go on for decades.

I never thought of it like that. It is almost word for word from Atlas Shrugged.

There is no guarantee that people with old policies will have them renewed at current rates, and some states have considered approving the renewal of old policies, allowing insurance companies to charge 10 percent or 15 percent more. “It’s easy, so I like it,” said one state official who asked not to be named.

So you get your old plan back, but you have to pay more for it and who knows if you will get to keep your doctors. What a deal!

Sadly I have to agree with you...and it will get a gazzilion times more complicated as it goes. For every false “fix” more issues will multiply for it.

So often is said, that the Government needs to stay out of our business, has never rung more true than this scam....while we watch Obama and the Dims scramble to save themselves and this ‘beast’ they have attacked our society with.

Next they will put Amnesty through, and with or without illegals being made citizens they will be insuring them as well....

At some point Americans will revolt....but they are not hurting enough yet.

I think he was reminding them that to get the big premiums (doubled from prior) they need to shut up.

“We did everything Obama wanted, and this is the thanks we get,” said one high-ranking official in a state with its own exchange. “I can’t tell you how fed up we are.”

So what are you going to do about it, a**hole?
