WASHINGTON — Just hours after President Obama proposed a fix to an incredibly unpopular provision of Obamacare – the one that caused five million people to lose their health-care plans – comes word that the White House is already considering fixing that “fix.”
Suddenly, the White House is considering making the president’s temporary fix last “beyond 2014.”
At a White House press conference Thursday, Obama announced he would let people keep their health-care plans that don’t meet Obamacare requirements. He also said people could re-enroll in plans they had lost that did not have Obamacare’s mandated benefits.
The fix was to last only for a year.
But, in a fact sheet outlining the details of that plan, the White House announced, “HHS (Health and Human Services) will consider the impact of this transitional policy in assessing whether to extend it beyond 2014.”
That is exactly what a GOP bill in the House would do. The “Keep Your Health Plan Act of 2013″ is coming up for a vote Friday in the House of Representatives.
Fox News analyst Charles Krauthammer believes the president only offered the fix because he knows it has so many inherent obstacles, few people will really be able to keep their old plans.
The real goal of the fix, he said, is to dissuade Democrats in the House, and then the Senate, from joining Republicans in passing a bill that would allow people to keep their health-care plans permanently, because that would make such a dramatic change to Obamacare, it would put the fate of the president’s signature law into serious jeopardy.
Supporting that contention, the White House announced late Thursday that it would veto the legislation.

That what is what was happenning when they were debating the original Bill and Nancy said that they’d “have to pass it to find out what’s in it”. This is not the way to run a government. This is not even the way to run a household!
Makes it so easy for businesses to plan and function with ever changing rules...

If these canceled policies are fixed, will the people have the same premiums and deductibles as the old policy? IMO they will have new rates.
They want it extended now because the cancellation notices in 2014 would be sent back out around election time. That is why Landreiu’s bill was a 2 year.

What about the next POTUS? Are they going to promise to ignore the law as written too?

Of course, it is the reason, and his “fix” is only a political fix designed to shift blame to the insurance companies.
Repeal. That’s the only true fix there is.

If the voters ( especially those whose insurance are being cancelled) don’t even UNDERSTAND that this is simply a postponement of the PAIN that will come back worst later and still vote for her, then they deserve everything they get.

I agree. The Christian thing to do would be to leave her a tip and a note that “Jesus Loves You! Please rethink your lifestyle.”
Trying to fix Obamacare is like trying to install a mis-cut carpet in a big room...whenever they pull it to cover one corner, another corner comes undone. Nothing they can do can make the carpet fit properly, other than to remove the badly cut piece and start over from scratch.
The real problem is they knew the carpet didn’t fit before they tried to install it. Of course that was deliberate...
