EXCLUSIVE: Sen. Marco Rubio plans to introduce legislation next week to repeal the Affordable Care Acts risk corridor provision, which would give government payments to health plans with higher than expected costs. A Rubio aide: The President's announcement
increases the likelihood of a federal bailout of insurance companies
Rubio will introduce legislation
that will ensure the Obama Administration doesn't have unaccountable blank check-writing authority
[T]he current law gives the HHS Secretary broad authority in this area with no Congressional approval/oversight. Our legislation will
protect
taxpayers from potentially having to bail out the insurance industry.

Start getting votes of Dems who want to keep this atrocity in place. This monstrosity is absolutely toxic.
As PO-ed as I am at Marco, this is actually pretty adroit.
Obama is ginning things up for the public to hate/blame insurance companies. So getting loud with the fact that the ACA provides HUGE SUBSIDIES to those same EEEEEEVIL companies is really smart politics.
Actually, I think this is a good idea. The legislation would remove Obama’s blank check from Obamacare and further assure its implosion. And, Republicans can now say they are working in a biapartisan manner!
The alternative, which has its advantages, is to simply sit back and watch the Obamacare fireworks factory blow up and burn to the ground all by itself.
Smart move by Rubio. But I don’t think Mitch McConnell will be happy.

Good timing too, as the insurance execs are meeting with Obama this morning to be bribed and/or rolled.
Letting them know we’re on to them can only help.
Obamacare was written by interest groups, including the health insurance industry, which supported Obamacare because it forced people to buy their product. This “risk corridor” language just makes sure they can only make money, not lose it.
Hardly anyone knows about this provision, just like so few knew that they couldn’t keep their plans.
Kudos to Rubio for putting the focus on this. Way to get ahead of the curve.
This should start getting a lot of play in the media and people will be outraged over it.
Obama will never sign legislation reneging on this, but why not force Rats to go on the record voting to affirm insurance company bailouts?
Rubio needs a similar bill in the House as at least that one has a chance of coming to the floor for a vote.
I thought that the state insurance commissioners were in control.
Rove went over the risk corridor yesterday on Greta's show. In 2010 Senator Enzi offered an amendment to change the regulations on grandfathering to ensure most people can keep their plans. The Dems voted it down.
The fact is that many people knew about these problems with Obamacare. Most of the public may not have, but those of us who followed the issue certainly knew about it. The Reps in Congress knew about it and voiced their concerns. The MSM never did its job. If a tree falls in the forest....
Obama will never sign legislation reneging on this, but why not force Rats to go on the record voting to affirm insurance company bailouts?
Reid will never let a vote on the bill. The House would be the appropriate place for this symbolic gesture.
I want to be able to trust him. There's something about Rubio that I wouldn't mind having in the WH. If only he understood the depth of passion so many US citizens feel about people who entered the US illegally, and now want rights and privileges.
Well then, if this thing implodes, you know what’s coming next.
George Soros will be initiating his Insurance Commissioners Project in all fifty states.
Exactly what I was thinking, although if people get angry enough about this and start putting pressure on Landrieu & Co., you could see a CYA proposal from those cowardly Senators as well.
