President Barack Obama will meet on Friday with insurance industry executives to discuss changes that he has proposed to his signature healthcare law to address the outcry over insurance policy cancellations, a White House official said.
The meeting comes a day after the president, under fire for the botched rollout of his top domestic policy achievement, announced he would allow individuals to keep insurance policies that were being canceled under the 2010 Affordable Care Act, widely known as Obamacare.
The health law has stumbled in its early phases, first because the website designed to sign up consumers malfunctioned, and then because numerous people complained their insurance policies were being canceled.

He spent the last week lambasting them for being greedy. If they extend an olive branch to them, they’re morons!
Obama is not going to beg them, he is going to threaten them.
They need to tell him that this is his mess, and they cannot do anything about it. They need to refuse to break the new laws, and walk out. He’ll probably offer them some huge amount of our money to try to get them to do it his way... I hope they flip him the bird on their way out of the room.
Should he not have met with them BEFORE making more promises?? SHEESH!
I’m torn between telling them to blow him off, going to the meeting and then blowing off the grandstanding, or going and blowing up 0bama to his face at the press conference.
On no account should they allow themselves to be used as backdrops for him at a “see I fixed everything” photo op.
Dunno, it sounds like a “we told you so” moment.
Still, didn’t some of them support him for this monstrosity? Did they ever actually THINK that this was going to be handled in a competent manner? Well now the boardrooms of America are getting a stiff lesson in “don’t trust your government.”
Obamacare has become a litmus.
Anyhow I got better stuff to do.
Who in the #u%@ made him king?
Obama is going to offer them bundles of money through the Risk Corridor if they cooperate with him or the implied threat that really bad things will happen to them if they don’t play ball.
Neither Obama nor the insurers have the legal authority to do anything to resolve the snowballing disaster.
He will buy them off with another billion or two of taxpayer money.
Secretly he is going to beg them but publicly he will claim he let them have it.
He won’t beg them. He’ll threaten them.
They need to go into the meeting with hidden recording devices.
Nonsense. Aside from the website debacle this thing is working as designed.
I blame ROBERTS for this. He could have stopped it but lost his nerve.
If he encourages them to violate the law as it is written, then wouldn’t RICO charges be justified?
Are they going to be stupid enough to trust him a third time?
Cause if they’re that dumb, the choice between they or the government running healthcare becomes kind of a toss-up.
