Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-IL), one of the most prominent supporters of comprehensive immigration reform in the House of Representatives, wants lawmakers in Congress to stay through Thanksgiving and Christmas to create a pathway to citizenship for all of the country's illegal immigrants.
"I think it's unconscionable that the Congress of the United States is going to go away for Thanksgiving with their families, we're going to go away for Christmas with our families, while our broken immigration system continues to destroy tens of thousands of families, he said on Fusion.

He’s a turkey....go and get stuffed.
Democrats aren't in total control, ala Obamacare, this time!
All the really nasty stuff gets passed the week before Christmas when nobody is looking. Not that the MSM looks anymore. These are nothing but dirty rotten POS of Shiite in congress.
There is that word again, “broken”. What part is broken?
We keep hearing you can’t round up 11 million illegals and deport them. I agree it would be very costly. My recommendation would be to pass a bill giving them 90 days to leave on their own and at the end of the 90 days have an open hunting season. I’m sure they’ll leave.
The part where deportations are supposed to occur. But that is already law. Hmmm, how do you fix that?
Let’s “table” this goofy bill until the unmemploment rates of U. S. CITIZENS return to the much lower rates of G. W. Bush’s presidency.
First, congress and the Fed Government need to assure our current immigration laws are followed. If (and this is a hge if), the most desperate and least educated amongst us is not forced (IE denied Welfare a food stamps) to do the hard work of society (pick crops etc), then a Guest Worker Program should be put in place that does not easily lead to citezenship.
Once and if this system is in place and proved to be working for a number of years, then we can discuss amnesty.....maybe. Thats the way it’s going to work Congressmen Guiterrez.
By the way, I was once very poor. I wored in the fields hoeing weeds and I also worked at canneries sorting tomatoes (I’m white..in case you were wondering). Eventually I worked my way through college etc etc. So, when I’m requesting that desperate people work in the fileds I’m talking about myself, too. This is how how you get a foot hold in society........by working hard.
So, no I don’t feel guilty about asking the least amongst us to do the hard work in the fields. I’m against a Guest Worker Policy on this rationale alone, but most Libreal Americans can’t imagine Americans working in the fields. And, supposedly, the GOP are the snobs.....
Then there's the part about "securing the border" that was supposed to happen as part of the last "amnesty", and never did.
We keep hearing you cant round up 11 million illegals and deport them. I agree it would be very costly.
Hey, they just wasted $600M on a website. It could have been spent on tickets to their homeland.
That sounds like the prayer for the dead.
Once we hit September a chance of a house amnesty reform bill reduced greatly (little time left) then the shutdown and the Obamacare fiasco took over.
A few House Republicans in heavily Hispanic districts are calling for it under pressure, but thats it.
I want to see Rep Gutierrez addressing an empty House chamber every day over the holidays.
The obamacare debacle should spend the end of any Dem legislative efforts till after the midterms. And if we win, after that too.
Also, no one believes anything Obama says so his 'great' oratory skills are useless.
Where’s the FENCE!
No patrolled fence.
The move to pass these immigration reforms is nothing more than a crude attempt to permanently stack the voting deck for the Democrat Party. If this measure passes and a permanent majority of people who care nothing about the founding principles of our nation, and who will vote themselves benefits from the Treasury, is emplaced, our Republic will be lost. There will be no option, other than secession, for preserving the freedoms bequeathed to us by our forefathers .
Distract from the Obamacare disaster by pushing immigration/amnesty.
