EVERETT -- A couple hundred Machinist union members held an unofficial rally Monday outside their union hall near Paine Field to protest a contract extension offer negotiated in secret by the Boeing Co. and the union's international leadership. The message: Boeing's promise to build the 777X in Everett, in exchange for significant changes in retirement and health benefits, among other things, will undercut the union and is a bluff by the Chicago-based company's leadership."They're trying to kill us. Period," said Wilson Ferguson, a delivery mechanic on the 737 line in Renton and president of Local A. "At the end of the day, all we have is solidarity."

“...at the end of the day, all we have is solidarity.”
No, at the end of the day is all you have is Obama’s backing as one of his favored constituencies. A powerful card, but not a righteous one.
I would love to see Boeing build the new plane in South Carolina. My bet is that should they try to do that, His High Overlord Obama, and his tools in the National Labor Relations Board, would unconstitutionally “veto” the move.
Boeing built Seattle, I doubt the Pot industry, rainy weather keeps it solvent if Boeing says “FU”
At the end of the day, they will have no job.
Wroblewski sounded a lot different Monday than he did last Thursday, almost as if he’d gotten the word that Boeing is not bluffing.
We’ll know tomorrow but Boeing may well not be bluffing, they’ve already laid the groundwork for leaving WA.
No, doofus. At the end of the day all you have is an unemployment check.
Sure hope the “iam” does the right thing and votes a big resounding NO. Then Boeing can say “well shucks, guess we’re movin’ south. Buh bye.”
These workers have always been overpaid and demanding.
I will hurt Washington for Boeing to leave, but these constant temper tantrums are really hard on a big company.
Back on topic. I have a hard time choosing between Big Business in bed with the government, and unions in bed with the government.
Then Boeing could sue in court delaying the whole thing. When the judge most likely rules in favor of the union Boeing will either cancel the project or send it overseas.
this is pure communism....take from some groups to give to others....
at least we don't have a state income tax......yet...
I won’t be surprised if the geniuses running the union do the same demented trick that Caterpillar workers did when they badmouthed until CAT pulled out of York, PA....And the workers at Harley-Davidson in York came within a froghair of doing a few years ago. I marvel at these people’s propensity for killing the proverbial golden egg laying goose.
It’s tough, why is the Federal Government involved at all?
“full pay until the last day!” -Eastern Airlines labor slogan
Yeah, one union worker said on our local news a few minutes ago, “This is the worst contract we’ve ever been faced with,” or somesuch words.
Well, join the club, Bub, the whole country is living on less jobs, less or no healthcare, and on and on.
They just have a very “special” thought about themselves.
the same demented trick that Caterpillar workers did when they badmouthed until CAT pulled out of York”””
There are still people in South Bend, Indiana waiting for Studebaker to come back.....
I’m so sick of the IAM acting like their overpaid existence is a birthright!!! Back when I had a machine shop - making exhaust duct plugs for 777s, the IAM decided to pull my work back in house. I went out to Renton and watched them operate...
The operators on the 6 spindle 250’ mills were sleeping at the controls. Back then - in the early 90’s - they were making almost $40/hr. The absolute LAST machinist I would ever hire would be one from the Lazy B.
They are not very smart or skilled people and always want more.
Years ago I had some Boeing stock, as did many Washingtonians. Sold all mine a long time ago as I got
tired of seeing it fall every time these spoiled machinists made some new demands.
I am nearly finished reading 'Rickenbacker'. That his beloved airline was killed by the very unions he hated had only one good aspect - it happened after his death.
What a great guy.
