We were definitely in need of immigration reform, because we have excluded hundreds of thousands of good Latin American and Asian legal immigrants and permitted thousands of dangerous Middle Eastern and Muslim African “immigrants.”
Meanwhile, we needed short-term labor visas for Latin Americans, because they live next door and can get here easily...but most of them actually don’t want to stay. They want to earn some money for their families and go home and open a business in their town, something that our current policy has made impossible. So they have to stay, because they can’t afford to go home and then get smuggled back.
Many people, such as Marco Rubio, wanted to call attention to this. But since the conservative wing of the GOP hates Hispanics (and I hate to say it, but they really do), we were never able to discuss this.
So any horrible act that gets passed is actually on the heads of the GOP and in fact the GOP conservatives, because there did need to be a reform. Not this one, which Marco Rubio said many times, but now we’re getting stuck with this one because of the stupidity of many in the GOP.

Well, here's some news for you. Immigration reform was never about the narrow type you suggest. If you believe that then there is little hope to ever convince you that the world is indeed round.
Immigration reform is simply another Liberal Nirvana plank. Like health care reform, they cloak “reform” in worthy sounding, poll-tested phrases, but the REAL goal is to legalize and give voting privileges to tens of millions of illegal immigrants with the express hope that they will forever be on the dole and be Democrat patronage voters for future Milena. Plain and simple.
Yeah, all the compassion crap is simply used to cloak reality, something that seems clouded for you.
