CHICAGO A public university in President Abraham Lincolns home state of Illinois is adorned with a plaque that states Lincoln arguably the most famous and influential president in American history was a Democrat.
Lincoln was a Republican.
The plaque, located on a historic building thats part of Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago and installed in 1905, states: This building is dedicated to public service honoring the memory of Abraham Lincoln Democrat.
When a picture of the memorial recently surfaced on social media sites, it quickly went viral, and prompted anger among many Republicans, who called the dedication not only inaccurate but also a prime example of revisionist history. But the university stands by the inscription.

Pretty soon we will start seeing people disappear from the viewing stands.
2. Someone with a keen knowledge of history pointed out to me at that time when Lincoln was president, there was no Democrat party. Republican yes. But no Democrat party. So the plaque is not worth getting one's panties in a bunch over.
“But the university stands by the inscription.”
Defiantly indignant liars.
when Lincoln was president, there was no Democrat party.
On the contrary...the lie is double and worse.....
Not only does it make the false claim the Lincoln was a Democrat....
...but it makes a worse claim that the Democratic party was around at that time.
In fact those "panties" are not only in a twist ...but spontaneously combusted.
The Republican Party was started in Ripon, WI in 1854.

How long will they stand by that inscription in the face of mockery and ridicule???
That’s because, in the liberal ‘mind’ only a democrat could have freed the slaves.
The liberal ‘mind’ lives in a different world than normal people. It has different perceptions and different memories of reality. And they believe it.
For anyone who cares about the truth. Consider the year the plaque was dedicated. At that time there was NO Democrat party.
Over countless years, the meaning of words truly change. Consider what the word “GAY” meant 50 years ago versus what it means today.
When the Lincoln plaque was put up, the word “DEMOCRAT” indicated that one believed in DEMOCRACY and supported our constitutional form of government, as opposed to a European type of Sovereign King etc.
Doing what dims and leftie Universities do best...re-writing history.
Democracy is something our Founding Fathers abhorred. I bet they would have had a few things to say to him if they had been around during Lincoln’s time.
“...at that time when Lincoln was president, there was no Democrat party.”
Huh?
you post “For anyone who cares about the truth. Consider the year the plaque was dedicated. At that time there was NO Democrat party.”
Are you perpetuating the lie - or ignorance?

Yes. The spacing is the same between all of the words in the three lines except for the larger spacing between "LINCOLN" and "DEMOCRAT."
Our Constitution established a representative republic. The checks & balances, plus the assumption that a wise & landed electorate would elect responsible leaders was the way our land was to be governed. The founders knew the unwashed masses were prey to demagogues, were subject to greed over what others had and left unchecked, would push government to confiscation & terror as was happening in revolutionary France at that time.
Well, we are now ruled by venal leaders and may yet see the guillotine in out town squares as democracy and corruption of what the Constitution wrote is at hand.
What is this NO Democrat party??????
The democrat party had been around for many years. In the early 1800s they rechartered/renamed from the Democratic Republicans to the Democrat Party.
Lincoln certainly did not, same as our founders, believe in democracy. Democracy and our Constitutional REPUBLIC are completely different concepts.
They sure don’t know their history, do they?
?? I just checked this on a Chicago Sun Times blogsite and there still appears to be no comma. Your source for this is ... ?
2. Someone with a keen knowledge of history pointed out to me at that time when Lincoln was president, there was no Democrat party.
Again, your source is? While true that there was a North-South split in "The Democratic Party" for 1860, the name of the organization had been "The Democratic Party" since Andrew Jackson's campaign in 1828.
In the 1860 election, Lincoln's opposition was divided into Stephen Douglas' National (Northern) Democrats, John C Breckinridge's Constitutional (Southern) Democrats and John Bell's Constitutional Union. So from this I dispute your claim of "No Democrat Party", instead there were two!
Ask a black, was Lincoln a Democrat?... and you will almost always hear, “Yes, he freed the slaves.” How Democrats can have the real history they do, slavery, KKK, etc., and continue to totally hoodwink people must be an art. But I guess you don’t have to be to artful with some folks.
It's easy when you have subsidiaries among the media and the education establishment dedicated to keeping the populace ignorant.
