Don’t Forget the Other Entitlement Monsters
FrontPage Magazine ^ | November 8, 2013 | Bruce Thornton

The continuing attention devoted to the blunders, incompetence, and lies surrounding the Obamacare rollout is much deserved. But we shouldn’t forget that the President’s health-care monstrosity is merely the latest and biggest of scores of government entitlement programs suffering from the same flawed progressive assumption––that government “experts” armed with coercive power alone can solve problems better left to the states, civil society, and the free market. In reality, such programs relentlessly metastasize, increasing as well fraud, waste, abuse, and costs.

One such program is SNAP, the kinder and gentler name for what we used to call food stamps. Apparently the old coupons were too hurtful, so they have been replaced by the Electronic Benefits Transfer card that looks like a debit or credit card. Over the last decade, SNAP recipients have increased from 21 million to 47 million, 1 in 7 Americans. But benefits paid out have nearly quadrupled from $21 billion to $75 billion. This total, by the way, doesn’t count the $7.2 billion spent on the Women Infants and Children program that also provides taxpayer-funded food. And don’t forget the other costs of the program, which tack on another nearly $4 billion. Part of this expansion reflects Obama’s relaxation of work and income requirements, and the increase of benefits by 13.6% as part of the 2009 stimulus bill (that increase expired on November 1). Worse yet, some speculate that Obamacare, by expanding the number of people eligible for Medicaid, might further increase the number of SNAP recipients by 3%-5%....

$75 billion and probably 80% of that goes to illegals who buy stuff with it and send it back to their home country. I say stuff because I see them all the time buy anything BUT food with it. All day long I see them lining up at 32-00 Northern blvd. in Astoria Queens New York city, one huge long line of Mexicans. So in essence what we have is foreign invaders coming into the country and stealing the money I spend many months earning, but that’s what happens when you have traitors running things.

Just think how much healthcare $75 billion would buy for CITIZENS. People right now who have someone in their family needing emergency life saving surgery but can’t afford it thanks to commiecare so the person ends up dying. Meanwhile Miguel and Juan who shouldn’t be the F in the country are swimming in $75 billion

This isn’t about alleviating poverty.

This is about keeping the people quiet and quiescent.

Right now, the “poor” have no aspirations because they are dulled by bad food, bad entertainment, bad educations and bad attitudes abetted by our government.

More and more people have been added to these rolls as jobs have disappeared and have been replaced with part time, deadend jobs. Good jobs are gone, and are not coming back.

If the people ever realize what has been done to them, black, white, or brown, there will be hell to pay. I don’t see it happening because those entitlements will never stop.
We will simply have more and more flacid bodies voting. That’s part of the puzzle too.

But, all it takes is one leader rising up for good or ill. We almost had it with Obama, but he is a product of his times, pushed and run by others.

That one person is out there. What side he will be on remains the question.

I sometimes sit and back and think that your idea would not be a bad one. I get frustrated at the stupidity, laziness, and inability to see what is happening that too many Americans exhibit.
Let’s have the battle now; between those who feel a return to a true Constitution government is a requirement for us to survive and those who want to sit back and be fed by the merciful hand of government. “Fed” meaning all those nice programs that take from a few of us and give to way too many people.
Let it all collapse, rebuild and make changes that hopefully will enable us to stay on the path set forth by the Founding Fathers.

People and politicians can only react.

Obamacare was action and it is floundering. The reaction is building but not yet mature enough for the consensus that will either destroy or very significantly modify Obamacare.

The only certainty at present is that it will not stand
