When the intensely private Rep. Mike Michaud laid bare his private life and announced he’s gay, one openly gay congressman joked that the Maine Democrat had never registered on his “gaydar.”
As he prepares to return to Capitol Hill this week as the seventh openly gay member of the U.S. House, Michaud said the decision to come out this week was a positive experience that drew support from fellow congressmen and hundreds of constituents—even if it was political nastiness that prompted his announcement. …
Michaud, who’s engaged in a three-way race for governor, used an op-ed provided to two newspapers and The Associated Press to disclose he’s gay, saying he did so to address “whisper campaigns, insinuations and push-polls” that raised questions about his sexuality. …
Rep. Jared Polis, D-Colo., who is gay, tweeted in surprise after Michaud’s announcement that “My #gaydar missed it.” He also reached out to lend support. …

Michaud is a horrid congressman, just as he was a horrid state senator, etc. He always votes as his Dem leaders want him to vote. He has never had an original thought. His claim to fame is that he was a union forklift operator at a now defunct Maine papermill. His only career has been as a lackey for others. He is a pro-death, Obamacare-is-great lightweight.
His chances of scoring in a bar on any given night has just skyrocketed.........
Like radar, maybe his "gaydar" can be over saturated by other strong signals, like Lindsey Graham.
I have to laugh at this.
Does anyone really think that they are “in the closet” and no one knows they are gay.
EVERYONE knows you are gay. People just don’t care because what we do in the bedroom is no one’s business. People don’t care because they have their own lives. People don’t care because we live in a pretty tolerant country.
I had a couple of acquaintances come out of the closet. Now these guys were in their late forties and fifties. If you met them, you would know in a second they were gay.
They announced their gayness, and everyone pretty much said, “No sh*t. Is the news to you, because it is not news to me.”
Some people will do anything for a newspaper story.
