SAN DIEGO Two California chaplains have filed suit against the secretary of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), alleging that they had been forced out of a training and placement program because of their Christian faith.
Chaplains Major Steven Furtko and Lieutenant Corporal Dan Klender state that they were repeatedly harassed and threatened while enrolled in the San Diego Clinical Pastoral Education Center program last fall and winter. The men claim that their instructor/supervisor, Nancy Dietsch hassled them throughout their time at the center over their Biblical beliefs.
Furtko and Klender outline that they were informed during the classroom instruction period that both Dietsch and the VA do not allow chaplains to pray in Jesus name in public ceremonies. When they attempted to quote Scripture during class discussions, they were personally reprimanded.
Ms. Dietsch informed the class she believes God could be a man or woman. Chaplain Firtko [then] recited the Lords Prayer, stating, Our Father. who art in Heaven, the lawsuit states. In response, Ms. Dietsch angrily pounded her fist on the table and shouted, Do not quote Scripture in this class!

That's a new one on me. I've heard of s Sergeant Major, and saw the M*A*S*H episode when Hawkeye snuck Radar in to the 0fficer's Club as a "Captain Corporal".... But this is the first time I ever heard of a lieutenant corporal.
The "War" is not only in Afghanistan!
I believe it should have stated “lieutenant commander”.

If we win another presidential election, there will be a LOT of housecleaning to do.
It sounds to me like Ms.Nancy Dietsch needs a good freeping e-mail campaign. Sounds like she needs some attention.
I believe this is she. Supervisor: Chaplain Nancy Dietsch Email: nancy.dietsch@va.gov.
Odds are 10 to 1 Nancy is a Dyke.
It’s about time lawsuits were filed.
Very similar to “Coffee Corporal”, “Latrine Corporal”, followed by “Corporal Punishment”

Don’t quote Scripture, don’t pray in Jesus name? Them’s is fightin’ words, Lady.
Really not that different from civilian life. I had a customer who liked to bait me with political controversies. I saw the man once a day for years, so I’d talk to him freely, only lightly mentioning the Scripture as a nod to our cultural heritage (which is true). One day he wasn’t happy with some response and blurted out “you’re just a Bible-thumping moron!” and stormed off.
He apologized the next day and we were cool from then on, only we were relegated to chit chat (which I hate). As a believer one has to learn to hold their fire. God’s revealed Word is unwelcome in so many cases. Some, such as my customer, can’t bear to hear the mention of it, let alone Him.
Yeah, I was just ‘snarking’ at bad reportage / editing.
Figured he was really either a Navy Lieutenant Commander, or Army, Marine or Air Force Lieutenant Colonel.

Writers should know what they are writing about. A lot don’t.

Yup, Lt Commander...

This is the first meeting of the US Catholic Bishops since the "government shutdown".
It will be interesting to see if the bishops have a statement about the priest who was not allowed to say Mass on a US military base during the "shutdown".
Bttt
The chaplains are bound by the tenets of their faith to preach in Jesus’ name, to coerce them to deny Him is a clear violation of 1A ...
