Analysis: Tens of millions could be forced out of health insurance they had (34 to 52+ million)

Even as President Barack Obama sold a new health care law in part by assuring Americans they would be able to keep their insurance plans, his administration knew that tens of millions of people actually could lose those their policies.

“If you like your private health insurance plan, you can keep your plan. Period,” Obama said as he pitched the plan, the unqualified promise he made repeatedly.

Yet advisers did say in 2010 that there were large caveats and that anyone whose insurance plan changed would lose the promised protection of being able to keep existing plans. And a report in 2010 said that as many as 69 percent of certain employer-based insurance plans would lose that protection, meaning as many as 41 million people could lose their plans even if they wanted to keep them and would be forced into other plans. Another 11 million who bought their own insurance also could lose their plans. Combined, as many as 52 million Americans could lose or have lost old insurance plans.

Some or much of that loss of favored insurance is driven by normal year-to-year changes such as employers changing plans to save money. And many people could end up with better plans. But it is not what the president pledged....

Even with these odds, don’t bet the Dog House on GOP taking proper advantage of all these little gifts of fate.

The employer based wave will hit after the 2014 elections. Every republican, the party, every PAC, needs to remind people during the 2014 campaign that 41 million policies will be cancelled during the campaign, and it could be them.

And just wait till they start issuing orders to the doctors to match client with the care required....and prescriptions....don't forget all those complex prescription orders.

I see not just amputations on the wrong limb....but on the wrong patient.

and don't expect quick response for a broken arm:

And so you have an acute appendix....?

Mark Wattson, 35, from Swindon may have been the victim of botched surgery after he had to have his appendix removed twice

To his shock, surgeons from the same team told him that not only was his appendix still inside him, but it had ruptured - a potentially fatal complication.

In a second operation it was finally removed, leaving Mr Wattson fearing another organ might have been taken out during the first procedure.

The blunder has left Mr Wattson jobless, as bosses at the shop where he worked did not believe his story and sacked him.

Mr Wattson told of the moment he realised there had been a serious mistake.

'I was lying on a stretcher in terrible pain and a doctor came up to me and said that my appendix had burst,' he said.

'I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I told these people I had my appendix out just four weeks earlier but there it was on the scanner screen for all to see.

'I thought, "What the hell did they slice me open for in the first place?"

'I feel that if the surgery had been done correctly in the first place I wouldn't be in the mess I am today. I'm disgusted by the whole experience.'

Mr Wattson first went under the knife on July 7 after experiencing severe abdominal pain for several weeks. He was discharged but exactly a month later he had to dial 999 after collapsing in agony. Mr Wattson

Mr Wattson was readmitted to the Great Western Hospital in Swindon after his appendix ruptured.

Nurse will see you now

Sit back and enjoy your Obamacare

So let me get this straight: in order to “fix” healthcare and insure supposedly 25 to 50 million people who were “uninsured”, they’re destroying and removing the insurance from anywhere of 35 to 90 million people depending on who’s counting?

If a foreign invader wanted to reduce us to ruin and devastation, what would he do differently than what Mr. Obama is doing?

It is logic version 2013.

To fix alcoholism, we would tax the heck out of booze, beer and wine. The result is that everyone would pay the tax, and continue drinking.

To fix starvation in America, we’d issue out McDonalds coupons to everyone...ensuring they ate lots of fast-food and gained twenty pounds a year.

To fix electrical shortages, we’d actually create a four-hour period each day where no electricity flowed to anyone, to ensure everyone had enough.

To fix decaying bridges, we’d simply tear them down, and make you drive sixteen miles to the next bridge that is still ok but waiting for it to be condemned.

To fix bar-fights, we limit all bars to non-alcoholic drinks.

To fix immigration, we remake America into the image of Mexico....so that even Americans desire to leave.

To fix the TV news environment, we encourage networks like CNN to establish themselves as the authority of fake-news, fake-journalism, and fake-reality.

In short, we are a nation with witless leadership....ever clever to show how short-sighted they are...and determined to fix just about everything possible. At this rate, they might get around fixing the old Knight Rider series and it’s terrible scripts.

This is the essence of the real question. Where are all the liberal whiners and complainers? How do they explain this conundrum? Is there no one to point out this karmic bitch slap?

Apparently it’s just us pointing out this factoid.
I haven’t heard anyone in the press mention that.
Nor has anyone seemingly pointed out that the basic premise ofobamacare was “affordable” and yet it literally prices some clean out of affording insurance.
Yes, they pointed out higher premiums, but failed to make important connections.

Insanity.

We had to destroy our health care in order to save it.

"Now, if you have or had one of these plans before the Affordable Care Act came into law and you really like that plan, what we said was you could keep it if it hasn’t changed since the law was passed,” Obama said, adding the qualifier Monday during a Washington event with supporters.

Although it's good to see the liberal media at least start mentioning this issue, it's still grossly misleading the public. The real issue here is insurance coverage mandated by Obamacare. Obamacare requires significant increases in costly coverage items. If a policy cost is changed to pay for these increases, it looses "grandfather privilege". Thus, it's the law that causes the loss of the policy, not the greedy insurance companies. This is rarely explained, leaving the impression that it's the insurance company that is the problem, not the Obamacare requirements.

I received a letter last week from Capital Blue Cross here in Pa. that as of Jan. 1st my health insurance with them will be cancelled. I like my coverage but have no choice to keep it. Thank you, Mr. “President”...

They might think it cute enough to vote for...Last year, I proposed my toaster as a suitable sub for Obama - at lest it would continue the damage.

Back to the story - McClatchy is another leftist bellwether - I stopped my paper subscription some years ago when McClatchy bought it out and the opinion page (including reader inputs) took a sharp swing to the left.
