“The burglars are solid DNC voters.”

That’s hitting the nail on the head. Dems seem to always side with criminals because that is their voting block.

‘The university’s weapons policy forbids the possession of weapons... in both on-campus and off-campus housing,’ a spokesperson told the station.

Since Gonzaga is a private Jesuit school, the best bet for these students is to appeal to the bishop of Spokane to act as a reasonable mediator. While the school may legitimately expect its students to maintain both morality and decorum, to expect them to be victimized or murdered while off campus, just to obey an arbitrary rule that they be unarmed and helpless, is foolish indeed.

No harm came of their actions, and two lives might have been saved. This is far more important than whimsical and secular rules.

Gonzaga portable gun-free zone goes where you go.

I wonder what the range of the zone is? What if a kid lived in an apartment 50 miles away and commuted?

When I was in my senior year, my college started on me with shenanigans and game-playing that escalated to the point where they were going to throw me out of school. The level of harassment and abuse from the Dean of Students and the V.P. of the school were so bad that I had to pay a lawyer to threaten the school for a bigtime breach of contract, just so I could get my last 3 credits and my degree.

I was nearly at the point I was going to hire these folks...

http://thefire.org/

...but I just got my degree and got the Hell out of there with sheepskin in hand. Actually, my one buddy pointed me to Levin... this was a long time ago... I dunno if he coulda helped or not, though.

Point is I got my degree, and I will never ever contribute one penny to that school, or the Alumni association... EVER.

I can definately empathize with these kids from Gonzaga. Any Gonzaga Alumni on here should take up the case for these kids and personally see to it that a hornets nest is stirred up and that the administration responsible for this violation of constitutional rights is fired. Money talks in these situations.

This is a Catholic school in Spokane, Washington, If that stunt was pulled here, G-d knows what would happen at the average State School even in a pure red state, much less a liberal arts type college or University of any kind. Maybe Theological Seminaries are the sole legit option they have.

Power extends even off campus. So, this little bitty 4000 student pissant college no one has ever heard of trumps the US Constitution. Hope those boys end up owning it.

The fools who are trying to expel these two students for legally exercising their second amendment rights should be imprisoned in the same cell as the home intruder!

The home intruder needs to live with the Administrators.

This story left out one very important detail. The off-campus housing the students are living in is university housing - i.e. it is not a private apartment complex, but off-campus housing owned by the university. As such, it is subject to the same rulees as the campus dorms and classrooms.

Now, I can't blame the students for their actions, and in fact they put up with the crumby perp far longer than I would have. So, I hope they do not get expelled. But I also have to reluctantly agree that the university is probably within its legal rights here, as sucky as their decision is.

The off-campus housing the students are living in is university housing - “””

Then I would sue the University for not providing proper security.

If they won’t let me take care of myself with my own ‘security’, then they should keep the buildings & occupants safe.

They cannot have it both ways, IMO.

Agreed. These kids don’t deserve to be expelled. If anything, they should be praised for their patience and restraint (the homeless perp is lucky he’s not stretched out in a morgue, given his aggressive behavior that night).

Hope things work out for these two guys.

See Sullivan Laws in New York. They were put in place to protect muggers by Sullivan, an associate of Tammany Hall who ran/ruled the gangs.

Gonzaga is in an EXTREMELY nasty part of Spokane. Crime, particularly property crimes, are very common around there because of all the social lowlifes preying on the “rich” students. But the statistics get downplayed because it would make the very prestigious university look bad.

[To the Lib mind they should have let the perk kill them.]

Or they should have challenged the hoodlum to a debate in which the students’ superior intellects—refined by higher education—would have exposed the folly of the hoodlum’s cause and sent him packing.

Well there’s legal rights and there’s the CODE OF THE WEST. That’s where the students are from and that’s where Gonzaga is. The college obviously thot they didn’t need any security but they are going to lose every time they try to force people to be defenseless. The housing agreement the students signed says “no weapons” but that implies security is in place. As with all the other recent “gun free zone” incidents it’s the school that’s shown its weak spot and they’d better back it up in a hurry or their trust fund is going to take a major hit. Remember Spokane is where the WW II vet recently got killed by beating when two of their finest tried to hold him up. The students had absolute reason to be fearful, concerned, and resist with all they had. Gonzaga doesn’t play football so the students were not likely to be full grown horses-—most likely don’t have the physical skills to bust the head of the robber-—all the more reason for the school to have some security out there in the ‘hood.

Hey, you’re preaching to the choir, FRiend. I don’t fault these two guys one bit. I’m just sayin’ the article didn’t have the “off campus” part quite right.
