Rep. Todd Young, R-Ind., slammed President Obama for committing "betrayal" in the weekly Republican address on Saturday, claiming the president misled Americans when he assured them that, under the new health care reform law, they could keep their insurance plan if they liked it.
Young relayed stories of Indiana residents whose insurance has been canceled or become more expensive under the new law. "This is what betrayal looks like," he said. "Here you have hardworking people who were repeatedly told not to worry, that their coverage would stay the same and - if anything - their costs would go down. Just the opposite is happening."
"Adding insult to injury, the White House - the president - isn't leveling with us," Young added. "He's trying to cover his tracks, claiming he never really made these promises. No wonder a member of his own party called this a 'crisis of confidence.'"
On Tuesday, veteran Maryland Democratic Sen. Barbara Mikulski warned that the problems with the health care law's website and the stories of people losing their insurance due to the new law's minimum coverage standards have created a "crisis of confidence." She urged the administration to right the ship before the law sinks.

A “crisis of confidence”?
That’s what happens when the lies stack up over almost 5 years from these libturds.
I remember the statement “Read my lips, no new taxes” which cost a president reelection.
You can keep... will cost many rats reelection and there will be fallout to the GOOP.
I’m too young to remember that. How and why did a Bush raise taxes after his promise? Was there much talk about it?
But only if Republican candidates are bold enough to use them in campaigns. So far, I'm not seeing it from them.
The consultancy class is neutering any candidate who shows a willingness to fight hard.

He should have saved a breath or two to slam the DemocRat-lite party.

In my opinion, this is what a dictatorship looks like!
Was there much talk about it?
yes. I don’t remember all the details but he promised no new taxes then I think Congress may have raised taxes and Bush went along with them. I am sure that anyone that remembers different will have a say.
It's what happen one's Chickens.....Come Home.....TO ROOST!
Read my lips, no new taxes
The way I remember the whole thing is that Bush the Elder said this while campaigning for president. I think it very likely that he meant it when he said it, but then when we went into a sharp, steep recession the democrats weaseled him into a deal that in fact raised taxes. Foolishly Bush went for the deal, and it cost him. His original “no new taxes” was a promise he intended to keep, but ended up breaking.
The “you can keep . . . period” thing from this creature occupying the White House now is of a very different order. He said it repeatedly knowing that it was a lie. He purposely deceived people.
Anybody as old as me has surely in our lifetime made several promises that we honestly believed we would keep and then for some reason broke those promises. I think Bush honestly believed he would keep the promise, but ultimately failed. This current sorry creature knew that the “promise” regarding obamacare was a deception.
The ‘RAT voters need to have a Bonus Army March on DC to get their $2500 checks.
- ObamaPhoney -
- So where is the $2500 a year in healthcare premium savings that Goofy-Golfer promised you & I?
- Did Obama’s lawyers before the US Supreme Court spew these of Goofy’s BS lies:
“I guarantee you can keep your doctor and your healthcare plan; nobody can take them away from you! PERIOD”
The crisis is that the light of truth is being shone on the cronies we have running the US government.
The dems wouldn’t allow military funding unless bush signed a tax hike. Bush refused three times but in the end there was nothing he could do since military funding was imperative.
