That's right. Ted Cruz to be on Leno tonight. Looking forward to FReepers comments as they are always informative and many are very humorous at the same time. Buckle up FReepers. I'm sure that Ted and Jay will keep us both informed and entertained.
Stay tuned or set your DVRs (NBC). This should be great. Go Cruz!
Hopefully, this is posted early enough to give FReepers time to plan on watching or recording. I will do both :)

The first question out of Leno’s mouth SHOULD have been (if he were fair & balanced),

‘So: Do you feel vindicated?’

I watched the show last night.
I had stopped watching Leno a long time ago, but since Cruz was a guest, I choose to waste my time, on the off chance that I would be mildly amused.

I wasn't amused.

It did remind me why I had stopped watching Leno.

Yes. Go back to your DVR playback and go to the end of the show, after the band plays.

I think you can get the youtube version before Monday’s broadcast.

Leno hates conservatives. He isn’t much better than Letterman.

I can’t imagine why one would go out of their way to misrepresent him as having shrugged off Obamacare as the law of the land after that.

You can't imagine why Leno would try to misrepresent Cruz? Surely you jest!

As for a "grade", it's MY grade, with respect to whether or not Sen. Cruz can effectively advance conservative policies and maybe, just maybe, help right this sinking ship called the USA that we are on.* I'm a US citizen; I have every presumption in the world (or at least the US) to grade those who hold office, serve the public, etc.

*We should hope that is Cruz's "goal" too. His choice of goals is part of what we should grade him on.

This sort of grading has both objective and subjective components, so obviously other's assessments will vary. I was merely trying to explain the reasoning behind my assessment.

"In enemy territory"? What better way to find out what he's really made of, in terms of swinging voters to our side?

Cru went on Leno, because he has to face the enemy.

I absolutely agree (see the above.)

What he said about Obamcare was in response to Jay who said John Roberts upheld it as law of the land.

Sen Cruz didn’t even nod at that. he said Obamacare is not working.

Which has about zero effect on the average viewer, at least as presented by Sen. Cruz. Most average voters know many laws don't work very well, and (apparently) are ok with that, or apathetic. They need to be made NOT ok with that. Yes, Sen. Cruz did also mention job losses and such, but it wasn't tied together very well (partially because Leno kept interrupting). Nowhere was any argument really made or question asked by TC about what to do if a bad law has been put into place. Nor was a past example (such as Prohibition) cited.

Our (conservative) leaders simply MUST make more effective arguments. Not to you or me. To average voters. Not to appease them. It is to get them to understand & hopefully move to a more conservative position.

Coming across as "not the devil" (or, not arrogant), and avoiding gaffes is great. But, it is not by itself sufficient. Again, I think that with experience, Sen. Cruz will get better at this.

SO your comment is strange.

If my comments are strange to you, so be it.

From www.ijreview.com:
Ted Cruz Shows How To Outreach Successfully On
His 'Tonight Show' Appearance
Great job of Ted Cruz showing how to get past unfair questions and accusations by Jay Leno,
and look reasonable and rational. This in the face of an interviewer who was aggressive and argumentative.

Some of his questions were fair, and others weren’t. For instance – Ted Cruz’s father has been attacked
for some controversial statements he’s made. But so has Barack Obama’s parents – did Jay Leno ever tell Obama it was ok to attack his parents?

Did he ever even bring up the fact that they were Marxists, and his dad was an alcoholic womanizer? Not once.

You can tell that Jay took a very sanctimonious and combative tone – after asking his questions,
he took this pose that he doesn’t ever take. He leaned in as if he had just nailed Ted Cruz – which he never did.

Cruz did an excellent job of answering each question calmly and reasonably.

Hopefully this will help him destroy the ridiculous image that his critics have painted him with in the media.

All in all, a very impressive appearance for Ted Cruz. Take note, GOP – this is how you tackle the culture and win.

Fro www.breitbart.com:
'Tonight Show' Audience Roars with Approval
After Cruz Bashes Obamacare, DC's Permanent Political Class
On Friday, Sen.Ted Cruz (R-TX) appeared for the first time on The Tonight Show. Cruz said the greatest divide in the country
now is between Washington's permanent political class and the rest of America, and he railed against Obamacare as the "the biggest job-killer in this country."

Jay Leno's studio audience roared with approval.

Cruz said there are "too many career politicians in Washington that want to just keep going down this road
of more and more spending and taxes and regulation" while the people who are getting hurt are "young people.
They're Hispanic. They're African-Americans. They're single moms."

Cruz called them the "lost generation" who are "struggling without jobs and without growth."

He emphasized that the "rich do great with big government.
Big business does great with big government."

"The people who get hammered are the small businesses," Cruz said.

Cruz then emphasized Texans do not want ObamaCare because it will ultimately take away their preferred insurance plans
and said he thought America's health care system needed to be reformed so that "it's portable, it's affordable."

"We ought to empower patients, rather than government bureaucrats getting between you and your doctor," Cruz said to more applause.

At the beginning of the interview, Cruz mentioned that the Washington establishment may find him "abrasive" because,
"what I'm trying to do is do my job." These are remarks that Cruz has made since he got to Washington--
that he will stick by his campaign promises instead of being co-opted by the Washington establishment.

"And occasionally people don't like that," Cruz said.

But the Tonight Show's audience--far from the Washington establishment that loathes Cruz
and near the heart of liberal Hollywood--did like his message.

I watched Cruz and Leno. Leno disappointed as usual. He was rude, unfriendly and he kept his head down most of the interview while he read the questions that had been prepared for him.

Jay Leno is the UNfunniest comedian I have ever watched. Have you noticed that he thinks he has to repeat the punch line of every joke at least twice, sometimes three times!
It was not a funny a joke the first time Jay, it is not going to be funnier if you repeat it, we heard you the first time!

YOU ARE NOT FUNNY JAY, SO RETIRE ALREADY!

In attacking Senator Ted Cruz with Demonrat talking points, Jay Leno asked: "All right. Now, your dad's been in the news lately. He was talking against -- against gays. Is that fair game?"

In fact, at a Dean Bible Ministries Men’s Prayer Breakfast on June 15, 2013, in a presentation, ""Why Christians Need to be Involved in the Political Arena," at 40:13 into the video, Rafael Cruz stated:

“You know, communism or socialism, whatever you want to call it, what is happening in this country is not different than what happened in Cuba. The procedure might be different; they may be a little slower but it's the same thing. It is about government control of your lives. You got to realize how Marxism, how socialism works. And we need to understand the issues. When you hear all these things about homosexual marriage, this has nothing to do with homosexual rights. Did you know that?...The whole objective is the destruction of the traditional family, it has nothing to do with homosexuals, they could[n't] care less about homosexuals, they want to destroy the family."

The Demonrat talking points are the hell-spawned lies of traitors.

I found the videos .. I thought Senator Cruz did a really good job.

However, I could easily tell that Jay was being very critical with Cruz, while he plays softball with most of the dems who come on his show.

Too bad .. but I never watch him anyway .. so I guess it doesn’t matter.
