The Mormon church stands to own nearly 2 percent of Florida by completing a deal to buy most of the real estate of the St. Joe Co. for more than a half-billion dollars.

The megapurchase was announced jointly Thursday by a corporate representative of church, which owns the nearly 295,000-acre Deseret Ranches in Central Florida, and by the real-estate and timber business, which has built several communities along the Panhandle coast.

I tend to ignore them . . . or clean them off my shoe.

Now now Vman.

That is NOT what MORMON scripture tells you to do!

The

DOCTRINE AND COVENANTS

OF THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS

SECTION 71

Revelation given to Joseph Smith the Prophet and Sidney Rigdon, at Hiram, Ohio, December 1, 1831. HC 1: 238–239. The Prophet had continued to translate the Bible with Sidney Rigdon as his scribe until this revelation was received, at which time it was temporarily laid aside so as to enable them to fulfill the instruction given herein. The brethren were to go forth to preach in order to allay the unfriendly feelings that had developed against the Church as a result of the publication of some newspaper articles by Ezra Booth, who had apostatized.

1–4, Joseph Smith and Sidney Rigdon are sent forth to proclaim the gospel; 5–11, Enemies of the saints shall be confounded.

1 Behold, thus saith the Lord unto you my servants Joseph Smith, Jun., and Sidney Rigdon, that the time has verily come that it is necessary and expedient in me that you should open your mouths in proclaiming my gospel, the things of the kingdom, expounding the mysteries thereof out of the scriptures, according to that portion of Spirit and power which shall be given unto you, even as I will.

2 Verily I say unto you, proclaim unto the world in the regions round about, and in the church also, for the space of a season, even until it shall be made known unto you.

3 Verily this is a mission for a season, which I give unto you.

4 Wherefore, labor ye in my vineyard. Call upon the inhabitants of the earth, and bear record, and prepare the way for the commandments and revelations which are to come.

5 Now, behold this is wisdom; whoso readeth, let him understand and receive also;

6 For unto him that receiveth it shall be given more abundantly, even power.

7 Wherefore, confound your enemies; call upon them to meet you both in public and in private; and inasmuch as ye are faithful their shame shall be made manifest.

8 Wherefore, let them bring forth their strong reasons against the Lord.

9 Verily, thus saith the Lord unto you—there is no weapon that is formed against you shall prosper;

10 And if any man lift his voice against you he shall be confounded in mine own due time.

11 Wherefore, keep my commandments; they are true and faithful. Even so. Amen.

Well; we DO try to raise the awareness level around here; but do we get any thanks from those folks whose chosen religion is getting more exposure?

NO...

As for a choice between trusting resources to a Mormon, a socialist, or an atheist - I’ll take the Mormon every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Hey, in some spots of Mormon history, you've gotten a 2-in-1 deal on your preferences!

Mormonism's links to Leninism and Marxism...per a Mormon author in good standing with the Mormon church!

The Mormon author in question? George W. Givens:

Here's what Lds “prophet” Taylor said about the "United Order" communism of late 19th century Utah in Orderville: "We had NO EXAMPLE OF THE 'UNITED ORDER' IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE WORD OF GOD ON THE SUBJECT... (Lds author George W. Givens, 500 More Little-Known Facts in Mormon History, p. 169)

Taylor was the third Lds "prophet." He realized no scriptural basis for United Orders & dismantled the one in Orderville (he also cited other reasons such as "Our relations with the world and our own imperfections prevent the establishment of this system at the present time, as was stated by Joseph in an early day, it cannot yet be carried out."

Lorenzo Snow, before becoming an Lds "prophet" in 1898, founded the United Order community of Brigham City.
A Utopian author (Bellamy) then visited Brigham City in 1886. It reinforces his ideas in his book.
Lenin gets ahold of his book; and further injected utopian Marxism into Soviet Russia.
In the interim (back in Utah), a ballad crops up about Orderville after it appears that one of the sons of the Lds presiding elder of that town (Alvin Heaton), murders a pregnant girl (Mary Steavens) he refused to marry in 1890. Apparently, he was convicted & sent to prison. (see Givens, p. 190)

(So much for Mormon "Utopia")

Yup...and here the United Order was supposed to be "everlasting," was it not? That was Joseph Smith's "revelations" in D&C 82:18-19 and 104:1, 48, 53

Even George Givens, a Mormon author, described Brigham Young’s communist-built community of Orderville, Utah as “pure communism”: "When Brigham Young established Orderville and similar United Orders, John Taylor was less than enthusiastic. He realized that enterprises such as Orderville were pure communism and not the law of consecration. He made this plain after he became President, when in 1882 he sent an epistle to all authorities of the Church in which he bluntly stated: 'We had no example of the 'United Order' in accordance with the word of God on the subject...Our relations with the world and our own imperfections prevent the establishment of this system [i.e. the system of consecration and stewardship spoken of at times as the 'United Order'] at the present time, as was stated by Joseph in an early day, it cannot yet be carried out.'" (George W. Givens, 500 More Little-Known Facts in Mormon History, 2004, p. 169)

The truly unfortunate thing for world history is that John Taylor didn’t go far enough, for while he dismantled Orderville, he left another “United Order” community (Brigham City, Utah) alone.

Here is Givens again (a faithful Mormon author):

"One of the most famous utopian books ever written was Looking Backward by Edward Bellamy, published in 1889. Some scholars believe Looking Backward had considerable influence in the making of Lenin's Soviet Russia. If this is true, then [ensuing Lds "prophet"] Lorenzo Snow and the Latter-day Saints must receive some of the credit--or blame. Hearing of the success of the United Order in Brigham City, Edward Bellamy made a special trip to Utah in 1886 to study its operation. There he spent three days with Lorenzo Snow, Brigham City's founder and forty-year resident. Impressed with the thirty to forty industries run by its 2,000 inhabitants and the vitality at that time of one of the most successful United Orders, Bellamy returned home and wrote his influential book." (500 More Little-Known Facts in Mormon History, p. 185).

Way to go, 19th century Mormon leader-“prophets” of Joseph Smith, Brigham Young, John Taylor & Lorenzo Snow!!! They all unwittingly fueled Soviet Communism!

It was…
… Smith’s original idea of a United Order, something he falsely prophesied would be everlasting- see Doctrine & Covenants 82:20; 104:1 – I mean you haven’t taken scissors to those verses yet, have you Rip? So that must mean you still embrace these concepts as “Mormon truth”
…followed by Young’s implementation of these communistic ideas into Utah communities like Orderville & Brigham City…
…with Lds “prophet” Snow being the founder & long-term dictator of Brigham City, which in turn, influenced Bellamy, who in turn influenced Lenin!!!
…and while Taylor didn’t like the orders, he only did a half-mast job of taking apart Orderville, but leaving Brigham City untouched.

We folks who support religious freedom are a dense bunch of Americans.

Nothing wrong with that, but there are folks who, evidently, believe that all religions are equal.

Now THAT is dense!

I feel that each man must find his own way to heaven.

So much for either calling Jesus a liar -- or indirectly claiming He's mistaken!

6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (Jesus, John 14:6)

In sharp contrast, the cousin of Mitt Romney's father was one of the top three hierarchists in the Mormon church.

Here is the Romneyfied Mormon substitute gospel:
"It [the Mormon church] is the way, the truth, and the Life." [Source: Marion G. Romney, the father's cousin of Mitt Romney was one of the Top three ranking Mormons when he said it: "This Church is the ensign on the mountain spoken of by the Old Testament prophets. IT is the way, the truth, and the life" (Conference Report, April, 1961, p. 119)]

I am a descendant of Mormons with many dear Mormon relatives. I've said MANY a time on various threads that Mormons are of great value to our Lord.

You do know doncha...that a Mormon FR poster once got zotted because he suggested that FREEPERS may have been behind the killing of a Mormon bishop...(??)

When you attribute to a FREEPER that they "appear" to want to "exterminate" an entire group of people, may I suggest that you ...
...backpedal very quickly & apologize having uttered such a slanderous comment & vile violence-filled comment...?

My cousin was married to one of Vernon Romney's daughters, another disappointment. Augustine spoke of the “Shining City on A Hill” in the same language.

Again you setup a straw man argument as most Christians believe that baptism is necessary to be saved. But this is not judging a person just indicating that there are certain requirements to salvation that must be met.

And I have done the same thing...

Even a cursory reading of the Bible says there is ONE TRUE God...see, the several passages of Isaiah 43, 44, 45, for example. Mormonism embraces MULTIPLE gods.

Hence, polytheism does NOT = Christianity. There is a certain relationship (not religious ritualism like Mormon templedom) that is a basis of eternal life:

3 Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the ONLY TRUE God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. (Jesus, John 17)

Notice that Jesus says eternal life is a relationship with THE ONLY TRUE God -- not a ritual temple attachment to one of many Mormon polytheistic gods.

You would think that recognition of simple math alone would have helped you determine which religions are not "Christian."

As you posted, the hatred and continuous use of FR to express same is pathological. And undoubtedly very detrimental to any and all fund raising for the continued existence of this site. Very selfish and stupid and quite unnecessary IMO.

An evangelical friend of mine told me of her uncle driving to Cal with other men to find work in Calif and they became stranded in Utah with no money for gas. A man at another pump paid their bill and offered them jobs on his farm/ranch with housing and they stayed the winter and left with his encouragement for the future. Never were they proselytized for the Mormon faith and remained protestant but respectful of that faith. Perhaps this purchase will become a refuge when Obama and his communist anti American filthy govt bureaucracy have total control of this Republic and there is nowhere else for their opposition to find shelter.

You fail to understand the oligarchs, among other errors. This piece of property will doubtless be on the oligarch’s list as targeted for harvesting and control by the rulers when WROL arrives.
