Barone Report: Tea Party Base Instinctively Ahead of GOP Establishment
The American Thinker ^ | 11-8-13 | C. Edmund Wright

Posted on 11/07/2013 8:39:15 AM PST by C. Edmund Wright

While the Republican establishment was obsessing over the government shutdown, the evils of Ted Cruz, and the latest Jurassic media poll designed specifically to fool them, they remained blind to the massive iceberg that was about to nearly destroy the McAuliffe money machine campaign. As such, they missed a golden opportunity to nudge Ken Cuccinelli across the finish line -- an opportunity the GOP base understood. While Michael Barone did not say this in so many words, these are the inescapable conclusions of his Virginia race analysis. That iceberg? That would be the reality of ObamaCare, as it sinks in and destroys peoples' lives and Democrat approval ratings. It's the massive all encompassing game changer that the establishment failed to capitalize on in 2012 in their rush not to offend moderate soccer moms. It's what they missed years ago when they were so embarrassed of Sarah Palin -- they doubted her wisdom on death panels. And it's the wide-open path to victory for Cuccinelli that the establishment ignored in their beltway isolation fixation on a phony government shutdown -- a preoccupation that NBC exploited with perhaps the most absurd poll in modern history.

Wouldn’t it be funny if Gov. McAuliffe gets indicted for one of his many scams while he is in office?

That’s my only positive takeaway from this week. Within four years McAuliffe undoubtedly will do something horribly slimy as governor or get indicted for a past action and we are nearly guaranteed the next governor’s race in that state. Hopefully it will happen before Nov ‘16 to turn the tide with voters in time for the electoral votes to flip back.

McAuliffe’s primary job as governor is to hand Virginia over to Hilary in 2016. Everything he does will be geared toward making that payback.

Before his narrow loss, Ken Cuccinelli was presidential timber in the cycles to come. Now his career is over unless he has Nixonian resiliency and comes back, perhaps winning a seat from Virginia in the Senate. No doubt the Republican national committee and the Chamber of Commerce considered his potential when they eliminated financial support for Ken Cuccinelli so desperately needed by him to conduct an air war on television.

Barone's analysis of this election is valuable because it makes clear that it was not the conservatism of our candidate which defeated him but the air war financed with really dirty money. So the battle between the Tea Party and the Establishment goes on with the Tea Party now being armed with data that demonstrates that puts the fault where it really belongs, upon the Establishment. Other polls which show that it is the Democrats by one point being blamed in Virginia for the shutdown puts lie to the argument, voiced today by every-six-year-conservative Senator Orrin Hatch, that the blame for the loss belongs to two senators, implying Cruz and Lee, for shutting down the government.

Pity that we do not have equally cogent analysis concerning the election of 2012 upon which to ground arguments for a conservative resurgence.

Thanks for posting this, we need to be armed with more data with which to take over the Republican Party.

Lonegan got 44% in the NJ Senate “special election”. Christie did not want Booker on the undercard. Lonegan did that with ZERO help from the Senate GOP or the NJGOP. If the election was just a few weeks later and Obamacare was exposed, Lonegan would have gone up 6 points and defeated Booker who will be the future Democrat rock star. Ditka woulda beat Obama and Lonegan coulda beat Booker. Woulda coulda shoulda

Obamacare? The GOP is expending itself on shadows. “It’s the economy, stupid.”. The GOP had problems pre-existing Obamacare. The GOP abandoned the middle class working families who provided the votes for Reagan and the Bush duo. Restore MADE IN AMERICA and restore the GOP.

In the words of Guv LaPetamaine of Blazing Saddles, the establishment Republicans are just trying to protect their "phoney baloney jobs". They are on the take to just go along. They had rather hand us over to the Commies than help a Tea Party type conservative like Cuccinelli. It is time to rise up and clean house in the RNC and establishment base. F' Karl Rove, Peter King, Rinse Dweebus and all their kleptomaniac foxhole buddies. If they are not for the country and regular citizens FIRST, then run their stinkin' a$$es out of the party.

The GOP needs it’s comeuppance. Reince Priebus needs to be tossed out on his bum asap over the Cuccinelle debacle and the Tea Party should start threatening with 3rd party candidates to split the votes on these Rino’s. Nothing like looking at another 8 years of Dem controlled Senate and Dem President and a devalued House.
