NEW YORK (AP) Veteran ABC News reporter and "20/20" anchor Elizabeth Vargas is in treatment for alcohol dependency, the network said Wednesday.
Vargas, who is 51 and married to singer-songwriter Marc Cohn, last appeared on ABC in October. The network confirmed a New York Daily News story that said she has been in a treatment facility for a few weeks and has a few weeks more to complete the program.

I wish her a good recovery and I hope she has a good support system.

I’ve never heard of her either. But that’s to be expected, I guess, as I don’t waste my time on the lame stream media.

There are times I believe Hillary Clinton has had to “take the cure.”

She’s been around for 20 years. I believe she may have started on the today show on NBC.

Must be a serious case to be put away for six weeks.
Got so bad she probably started to speak the truth.
To: Berlin_Freeper
That was what I was thinking. She must have gotten drunk and spoke the truth about Obama and his wealth distributing Obamacare.

Vargas and Bob Woodruff were once hosting ABC Evening News...but when Woodruff got blown up in the Middle East on assignment, she lost that gig
She always looked a little off kilter when she was on TV...maybe now we know the real problem

Wow, I don’t remember that at all. Was he killed? I can’t believe I don’t remember this.

More than alcohol I fear. This woman has been a marxist and evildoer for abc for a long time... many at abc do drugs... it is the only way that they can live with themselves... the alcohol helps when they are working.

Isn’t she another one (like MoDo) who was rejected by Michael Douglas? IIRC, she took the rejection very badly.

I hadn’t heard that Vargas was Douglas’ sweetie. According to the source I saw, he left Vargas for Mo Do (and, as we all know, left Mo Do for CZJ)! What was he thinking?

ABCs Good Morning America. Elizabeth Vargas set up the May 31 segment, as observed by MRC analyst Jessica Anderson: "For the second time in two months, President and Mrs. Bush are dealing with a problem many parents know all too well: a teenager, their daughter, in a brush with the law involving alcohol. With this second incident, Jenna Bush's story is moving beyond the tabloids into mainstream media. The question this morning is, is this really anyone's business?"

How then do the media justify the avalanche of stories on Jenna? As ABC's Elizabeth Vargas felt the need to point out, "it has become an issue because President Bush himself has admitted that he had a drinking problem as a man, quit drinking when he was 40, was in fact arrested for driving under the influence." But no one hit the soapbox to ask if Al Gore III's alleged marijuana handling was learned from Dear Old Dad. No one asked what kind of "adventuring" influences the Gores instilled in their daughter.

I know more about her husband, Marc [’Walking in Memphis’] who got shot in the face and survived practically intact.
