President Obamas simple line If you like your current health plan you can keep it is haunting him amidst reports that 3.5 million Americans who purchase health plans on their own, in the individual market, have lost that coverage as a result of Obamacare.
Very soon, small businesses will be faced with a similar fate.
They will also see their health plans canceled as a result of Obamacare.
Small businesses, with fewer than 50 employees, are not forced to provide coverage under Obamacare.
But when they do, policies sold in the small group market are subject to the same regulations now forcing the termination of millions of health plans sold directly to consumers....

From the article...
In contrast, by renewing their policies off cycle the small businesses were able to lock in another year before they have to comply with Obamacare. They wont be subject to the laws mandates until the end of 2014.....This means that employees of small businesses wont get their cancellation notices until October or November of 2014.
Just in time for the 2014 elections.
The article also mentions that the smarmy Dims will try and pass legislation to exempt small businesses til after the elections. And, that "Every time another layer of this law gets peeled away, or another provision gets implemented, another block of Americans gets harmed.
Small business policies are the next to fall.
Way to go Dims/Progressives/Marxists.
What? Are they saying that the “employer mandate” will also be a complete disaster? What a shock.
I got my pre-cancellation letter. My policy year began on January 1, and our small-group company policy would have been canceled as of then. But my insurer permitted me to renew my “year” as of December 1, 2013, so the policy is good through November 30, 2014. But this week, I got our letter telling me that our current policy would be canceled at the end of our policy year.
Not sure what we’ll do then for the company. However, our group is older, so if we’re forced into the exchange, our premiums will probably go down a little. Deductibles will rise, our HSA may go away, and our provider networks will narrow, but I’ll probably start moving to an all-cash basis with a concierge doctor + a catastrophic policy for myself and my family.
Sadly, my employees will be stuck with DeathCare by Obama.
And even sadder, none of them voted for the Kenyan anti-Christ either time.
We had a seminar at work today to inform us of the changes in the company’s health insurance for 2014.
1. Premiums going up
2. Out of pocket expenses going up.
3. Deductibles going up.
4. Annual limit (amount insured pays) going up.
I do not participate in the company insurance as I have Tricare. But I did email corporate and ask if the above is a result of the ACA (DUH!). I also asked if anyone at corporate has considered challenging the ACA based on it being unconstitutional.
I wonder if I’ll get a response?
You’ve tried to gore the Golden Calf. Watch out!
Courage has pretty well vacated our boardrooms. Vanity has taken its place.
The Christian Sharing ministries(CSM) are going to be very busy. So, if you’re a small employer, you will need to tell your employees and prospective employees that the sharing ministries will be their only option. That’s fine with me, but you know that someone is going to find this discriminatory.
The other thought about CSMs is why did they give Christians an exemption? 0-care was written by Cloward & Piven communists so this seems strange.
It might sound conspiratorial, but perhaps this exemption was allowed so that Christians coud be easily identified and tracked by the Feds; it would be the 21st century version of the yellow Star of David.
I even asked a couple other employees if they’d be willing to fore go the annual raise in January if corporate would fight it. So far everyone said they would.
Any business that tried to take on the Bummer would be courting suicide... at least the way the corporate boardroom sees it.
In truth, evil is like 99% bluff to 1% tough and a determined courage could get past it. But then we have to ask where the courage would come from. The answer is God.
It’s going to be people like Hobby Lobby, strongly based in God, that take on the biggest load here.
Small business owners should be lining the streets of every state capitol/DC and challenging this debacle as the unconstitutional POS that it is. Where are they? When this hits small businesses, in masse, next year we’ll see who has the guts to stand up to this...rather than be held hostage by the elites.
I saw a new hobby lobby going up today in Bloomington MN.
I will be spending some money there :)
The plan was also changed so that employees have to pay the fist $6000 out of pocket so it isn't really a great plan for them.
I'm waiting for the letter for 2014 and I'm sure our costs will go up again or our plan will get dropped?
Whatever happens I think we'll just shut it down and have everyone go on the exchange to save us the money as a company?
“...to save us the money as a company?”
You mean save your profits you greedy evil Capitalist! Like you can’t absorb $54,000 a year for medical insurance. /s
And of course you will be the one to blame when your employees complain about THEIR increased portion of the cost.
In our area a nearby town (SeaTac, Washington) passed a $15 minimum wage. My conservative, but still young (16) and learning daughter said “that’s good for the worker, not so good for the owner.”
I told her to think about it a bit more, and what other things might happen because the owner has to pay them more, and why it might not be good for the worker. On her own she came up with:
some of the workers will get laid off,
the owner might raise the prices of things,
but then that would mean fewer customers,
and the business might go out of business,
and the workers wouldn’t have jobs.
It’s too bad that liberals just stop at the “Hey cool - I get a higher wage AND free health care!!”
BTW, I wonder when a new law will be enacted when small companies like yours dump their healthcare plans? I know there are fines on the 50+ firms, but I’m guessing at some point they will come after you as well.
Tucked between a Tillamook cheese commercial and one for Allstate insurance was Obamacare. All three entities are trying to sell us something. All three depend on you deciding to buy their product. Only two of them are honest businesses. Only one is designed to force you to buy their product with the full force of the law.
Can you imagine Geico using a snappy commercial trying to convince you to call them because your Allstate provider was forced by Geico to take you off their car insurance? But the thing is Geico has the full force of the law on its side and can fine you for not buying their product.
That is not a free market. That is coercion. That is illegal. But somehow when the feds do it it is not illegal.
Folks we have ourselves a tyranny and don't know it.
Megyn Kelly reported tonight that the figure is now up to 4.2 million. Amazing how those horrible insurance companies who write substandard plans are able to keep track of that day by day.
That IS amazing, considering 0 can't even keep track of the trickle of those signing up for 0DeathCare.
