How the heck did that happen?
Most public polls leading up to Election Day had Democrat Terry McAuliffe coasting to victory, some by double digits, in the Virginia governors race. Instead he squeaked by, beating Republican Ken Cuccinelli by less than 3 percentage points.

McAuliffe outraised Cuccinelli by almost $15 million, and he used the cash advantage to pummel him on the airwaves. A lack of resources forced the Republican to go dark in the D.C. media market during the final two weeks.
The Republican National Committee spent about $3 million on Virginia this year, compared to $9 million in the 2009 governors race.
The Chamber of Commerce spent $1 million boosting McDonnell in 2009 and none this time.
If the Republicans would have rallied around the nominee instead of refusing to support Cuccinelli, he would have won, said a GOP source involved in the race.

RNC spokeswoman Kirsten Kukowski defended the committee, saying that it has to make hard choices about how to spend limited resources.

The Stupid Party strikes again. Hopeless.
The resources of the RNC are going o get a whole lot worse, as people stop giving to Dem Lite
We need to figure out how to win in states like Virginia without the RNC. On one hand, the money helps, on the other, I don’t want my elected officials owing the RNC any favors, which is the only reason why people like Ted Cruz can speak up.
The GOP is determined to remain a “centrist” party even if they have to lose to do it.
In 2008 the GOP stripped my “lost cause” incumbent conservative congressman of funds in the final weeks of the election. He lost the race by a whopping 2% of the vote and we got a democrat who immediately got on board and voted for Obamacare.
This.
Fat and skinny had a race....

Levin's been ranting about this for days but it begs the question (that I had when listening so I can post it here),
if the whole plan is for conservatives to ditch the GOPe to beat Dems then does it make sense to blame lost elections like this on lack of help from them?
If we dont need them then how can we blame losses on them for not helping enough?
I am glad it wasnt a landslide for McAuliffe, that would have been a disaster.
Jeff Kuhner said this morning that Soros and Obama funded the Libertarian candidate’s campaign.
Not hopeless. Let Ken run for Senate and allow TEA across the nation to fund him. If everyone knew how close this was going to wind up beforehand, money would have flowed like a river and he would have gotten 50%.
I haven’t given money to them since ‘08. Finally not getting the calls and envelopes in the mail anymore. Not a dime. Until they change their ways.
The point is that we need to defund the RNC and Karl Rove and also send them a message by primarying McConnell, Graham, Cornyn, Alexander and the rest of the GOP-e sleazes.
It's the hypocrisy. WE need to unify with THEM, to support RINO primary winners, but it doesn't work the other way.
We need to figure out how to win in states like Virginia without the RNC.
It was an easy decision for the RNC to make:
Money for Obama Pal and establishment pol, Chris Christie?
Or
Money for Ken Cuccinelli, favorite of the despised Tea Party?
The corporist pigs like the Chamber would rather have a Dem than a conservative. It’s all about pork to them. They have become nothing more than prostitutes at this point.
