The ex-chief of staff for House Majority Leader Rep. Eric Cantor (R-VA) helped Democrat Terry McAuliffe beat Republican Ken Cuccinelli in Virginias gubernatorial election race.
Boyd Marcus, the chief of staff for Cantor until 2003who later teamed with another GOP operative Ray Allen to found the firm Marcus Allen, which Cantor employed until earlier this yearjoined the McAuliffe campaign after Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling, with whom Marcus campaigned, did not win the GOP nominee in Virginia.
I was looking at the candidates, and I saw Terry McAuliffe as the guy who will work with everybody to get things done, Marcus told the Associated Press in August when he joined McAuliffes campaign.
Cantor employed Marcus Allen until the day before Marcus left the firm to work for McAuliffe, at which point Allen dissolved it. NBC Washington reports that Allen will continue to work with Cantor. Cantor personally endorsed Cuccinelli in the race.

Henrico County (home of Eric Cantor) used to be solidly Republican but McA carried it handily. This stinks. Just what did Mr. Cantor do to offset his handmaidens pulling for the opposition and helping cost Cucc the election?? Perhaps Cantor needs an opponent in the next House leadership election.
It’s the whole liberal disease.. run a city, county, state into the ground and destroy it and then move because you can’t live with what you created.
DISGUSTING and I hope Virginians gets what they deserve. What the HELL does the PUNK know about Governing??? NOTHING.
>> What the HELL does the PUNK know about Governing???
About as much as those that voted for him.
Thoroughly depressing.
Should it not say that the ex-chief of staff for House Majority Leader Rep. Eric Cantor (formerly R-VA) helped Democrat Terry McAuliffe beat Republican Ken Cuccinelli in Virginias gubernatorial election race?
Is Cantor now a Democrat or is it that Eric Cantor is part of the Republican Establishment that helped to elect the Democrat McAuliffe for spite?
How can the people of Virginia vote for someone who supports reducing the life expectancy of the population (via abortion and death panels), supports gun control, supports increased taxes, supports union thugs, supports the destruction of Christians, and believes that men and women are interchangeable?
According to the State election website, the Dem (after the No. Va. precinct officials “found” the 600-vote counting error, always in the Dem’s favor) is 541 votes. There are, however, TWO precincts still out and they are in Republican strongholds, Rockingham County (Obenshain carried by 75% otherwise) and Mecklenburg County (Obenshain carried by 60%). Cantor has to go from the party leadership; to tolerate people working for you that are sabotaging conservative campaigns is unbelievable.
Huh?
Not a dime’s worth of difference.
Virginia got Lugered. The new sore loser’s game plan when the moderate loses.
The interesting thing here is clear collusion with the House GOP Majority Leader. A chief of staff is the most trusted ally, and this former chief of staff and still consultant in this calendar year was highly influential in pushing a corrupted Clinton crony to the governor’s mansion over a solid conservative. Tells you everything you need to know about the Republican party leadership today.
We’re speaking of the Attorney General’s race, which is the one that is still close, not the Gov’s.
Liberal republicans are naive to think there won’t be electoral consequences to helping Democrats defeat Conservative candidates.
Note that in his victory speech last nite, McAuliffe credited Republican crossover voters for his narrow win - is there a need to wonder of whom he is speaking??
Thanks. Didn't see that in your other post.
I look at these results and think what can we do?
McAuliffe won with less than 50% of the vote.
Sarvis, with Dem backing, drew way more than the margin of victory.
How about a runoff for the top two candidates? What would it take to change the election laws so that a candidate must win with a majority of votes? Public referendum?
“I saw Terry McAuliffe as the guy who will work with everybody to get things done” Really? Boyd Marcus must be delusional. They only thing that McAwful will do is increase the Clinton’s power base. Virgina is screwed!
Business interests gave bongo bucks to McA, as evidenced by: I saw Terry McAuliffe as the guy who will work with everybody to get things done.
Crony capitalism.
I can’t imagine that a chief of staff for a DEMOCRATIC member of the congressional leadership who actively endorses a Republican could ever show his face again on that side of Capitol Hill. When a “republican” does it, there are no consequences; it makes one wonder whether his “bosses” secretly supported what he was doing.
Mcnasty won because of the Spanish vote. Spanish people are emotional an easily fooled by propaganda. The rat commercials energized the Spanish speaking population in Northern Va. Very sad
