I would rather participate in an ALL OUT effort to identify supposed Conservative politicians(easy: just ask them how they feel about Ted Cruz or the Tea Party)....and THEN find true Conservatives to run against them and make sure these backstabbing RINOs are primaried.

You really want to spend all your time and effort fighting Republicans/conservatives who aren't pure enough? With that logic we'd never elect people like Rudy Giuliani because you'd be too busy supporting candidates that were more pure but completely unelectable in NYC.

Didn't we just learn a lesson from the silly nomination of EW Jackson? The guy meets the purity test but was unelectable and a drag on the ticket.

At some point we have focus fire on the greater evil here. This endless war whining about the GOPe won't get us anywhere. Reagan managed to overcome their reluctance to really move the party to the right without years of moaning about the "establishment". In fact, he struck a deal with them and put Bush Sr. on his ticket in order to unite the party. If we find, nominate and support good electable candidates there will be no need to endlessly complain about the "establishment".

How old are you? Five? You have that entirely backwards. The GOPe did EVERYTHING they could to defeat Reagan. They hated him beyond belief.

Reagan went after Nixon in 1968, took on a sitting GOPe in 1976 and beat the Rockefeller Republican Bush in 1980 after taking massive crap that makes what Palin gets today child’s play.

He didn’t take Bush as VP to unite the party you twit, he did to shove a stick in their eye and show them how it was done. He did more with a fully controlled Dem Congress to slow and back the federal leviathon than GW did with a full GOP Congress in 2005-2007.

After 41 won Reagan’s third term, he and his Michael Corleon, GW, stabbed and fired all the conservatives they could find just like the current GOPe is doing to “Tea Party” candidates.

Pick up a book on history some time.

You really want to keep fighting conservatives who are the backbone of your party. Do you want to withhold funding and support, and unofficially join the rats to defeat conservatives? Do you really want to vote for the rats over the conservative candidate, because he/she is conservative and you just don't want conservatives to win? Do you really want to prevent conservatives from any leadership position in your party?

What exactly is the point of ‘winning’, if we elect Republicans in Name Only, who operate no differently than Democrats?

Read post #15, longbow.
You don’t fight leftism/socialim with moderation/compromise/bailing.

And an ALL OUT effort doesn’t mean ALL OF MY TIME. It’s a focus that will be more rewarding for me than sending my $ and giving my support/volunteer time to RINOs who cloak themselves in the blanket of conservatism and often, lie to us to get elected and then reveal their true Rinoism.
Reagan may have “reached across the aisle” to accomplish some goals. But that was then and this is now.
When he did negotiate with the “other side”, it was often with Blue Dog Dems..Today there is no such thing..Most Dems are all out rat carrying liberal progressive socialists.
Being an activist...taking action...is more than some Freepers on this site do who lurk, complain and bloviate. Are you one of those slackers?
