I predict he loses by 40K votes, which is just over 2%. I think the result was baked in when the shutdown occurred. Outside of the DC area, nobody cared. But anyone who worked in DC had his life disrupted by the shutdown. I bet enough were inconvenienced to either vote D or stay home. The small margin of the defeat is heartening. If the D's could only manage a 2% victory after the shutdown, despite outspending the R's 2 to 1, going up against an uncharismatic candidate in the midst of a corruption scandal, and being in the heart of the region affected negatively by the shutdown, things do not look good for the D's in 2014.
Didn’t the government workers affected get a 3 week paid vacation?
Must be horrible.
Having McAuliffe as Governor might actually be a plus for us come 2014 and 2016. He is a buffoon of the first order. He will remind everyone of what a sleazebag Dems are, and he is not going to get virtually any of his agenda through the General Assembly.
Add running a third party shill to that list...
EXCELLENT SUMMARY - The press went Macaca over CUCC !!!
(You win post of the night !!!)
The government shut down hurt.
