The NFL is investigating the situation in Miami involving Richie Incognito, Jonathan Martin and some serious hazing gone wrong. The Dolphins said Monday they'll comply with that investigation. On Tuesday the NFLPA weighed in as well.
The union said that it would monitor the proceedings and "will insist on a fair investigation for all involved."
"We expect that the NFL and its clubs create a safe and professional workplace for all players and that owners, executives, coaches and players should set the best standards and examples," the union said in a statement. "It is the duty of this union to hold the clubs and teams accountable for safety and professionalism in the workplace.
"As the representative organization of all players, the NFLPA will insist on a fair investigation for all involved. We will continue to remain in contact with the impacted players, their representatives and player leadership."
The union previously said that it wouldn't be launching an investigation into the matter, but that was before racially-charged voicemails and texts leaked out into the public and before Incognito was suspended indefinitely by the Dolphins.
Now all of a sudden the Incognito situation is all anyone's discussing (it has seeped out quickly into the "real" world). It's the union's job to ensure that a team isn't providing an unsafe and harassment-filled work environment.

hold the clubs and teams accountable... but not the players?! one of their members threatened an other member's family with physical violence, sent him racist texts and extorted money from him, but the NFLPA didn't care, but now that there is an investigation, the union is up in arms to defend richie incognito, the racist, aggressor redneck from the capitalist owners and GMs... what a joke"

You can rest assured this is not an isolated incident I’m sure. Whether or not more stories come out, we’ll have to wait and see.
How do we know what happened ? Incognito could be a racist a-hole. On the other hand, Martin could be a race baiting whiner. I’ll wait for a few more facts.
I have little sympathy for those that choose to play a game for a living making 10-20 times more than your average joe.
Power to them but their ideas of problems and mine are in different realms.
um, because the messages, both voice mail and text, sent by incognito to martin were saved by martin and given to the dolphins and the league..
the dolphins are in CYA mode right now- they were told there was an issue, though not the severity what was going on, and shrugged it off...
I personally think major league sports should follow the MLB model of player development. It takes years from signing a rookie to him getting a shot in the big show. All the time playing in the minors gives teams a lot of time to spot potential problems and weed them out.
Just this summer the Detroit Tigers signed Ben Verlander and Torii Hunter Jr but neither will play at Comerica park for at least 3 or 4 years. Both will have to finish college and both will play for Tiger affiliated farm league teams with occasional shots in the big show if they’re good enough.
I agree 100%. However, these guys came up through their college ranks. One would think that any behavioral problems would have been at least somewhat evident along that way too.
I knew nothing about this until watching the Bears/Packers game and the ambiguous way the grave and shaken ESPN talking heads spoke unclearly and ominously about this “event” being “Beyond anything we’ve ever heard of in the NFL,” I assumed there was a mass gang-rape and murder perpetrated by half the Miami Dolphins.
Worse than Hernandez murdering people? Really?
Suspend the offender for a month and get back to the game.
Only problem with that is the average playing time for an NFL player is I believe around 4 years. Just the sheer nature of pysical wear and tear on the body makes for a small window to play at that level. That and the nfl want’s to get the next group of phenoms in the league to boost ticket sales. After all, it is all about the $$$ right?
Saw Dolphins lockerroom interviews last night on espn, most if not all players I saw interviewed had nothing bad to say about incognito.......I thought that was kinda weird.
Imho, that says more about the players interviewed than it does about Incognito.
Just as with the Saints’ bounty episode....you can bet that the Dolphins aren’t the only team where this goes on.
Clearly we’re going to have to clean up this in the male-dominated macho BS world of football.
The only way to do that is to admit women to the NFL, in all positions on and off the field. Players, coaches, and so on.
After all, look how well it’s worked in Congress.

Incognito is a criminal. His actions were/are criminal. This sgould be a criminal investigation not an NFL one...........
Richie Incognito has quite a history of questionable activity according to report I saw on TV.

And the military as well. Honorable mention goes to our public school system.
Incognito is a major a..hole ....and he has been a problem since his college days. He was kicked out of 2 colleges...and keeps getting NFL jobs because liberal NFL owners think he is mentally ill...and the owners have this liberal “Criminal Rights” mentality
