You can rest assured this is not an isolated incident I’m sure. Whether or not more stories come out, we’ll have to wait and see.
I personally think major league sports should follow the MLB model of player development. It takes years from signing a rookie to him getting a shot in the big show. All the time playing in the minors gives teams a lot of time to spot potential problems and weed them out.
Just this summer the Detroit Tigers signed Ben Verlander and Torii Hunter Jr but neither will play at Comerica park for at least 3 or 4 years. Both will have to finish college and both will play for Tiger affiliated farm league teams with occasional shots in the big show if they’re good enough.
Just as with the Saints’ bounty episode....you can bet that the Dolphins aren’t the only team where this goes on.
