AFP - Jailed Pussy Riot band member Nadezhda Tolokonnikova is on her way to a new penal colony in Siberia, her husband said Tuesday, following fears after two weeks without information about her whereabouts.
Tolokonnikova, 23, who alleged major prison abuses in her previous colony in central Russia, is on her way to a new prison colony deep in the Krasnoyarsk region, her husband Pyotr Verzilov wrote on Twitter, saying the information comes from a reliable source.
The penal colony number 50 in the town of Nizhny Ingash lies about 300 kilometres (185 miles) from the regional centre Krasnoyarsk, four time zones away from Moscow and sitting on Russia's Trans-Siberian railway.
"Essentially, she is transferred 4,500 kilometres (2,800 miles) from central Russia to the heart of Siberia as punishment for the resonance of her letter" that alleged abuses, Verzilov added.
With just months left of her two-year term for performing a "punk prayer" in Russia's main Orthodox cathedral protesting ties between the Russian Orthodox Church and the Kremlin, Tolokonnikova had demanded to be transferred from her prior colony in Mordovia region.
She went on a hunger strike in protest of conditions she described as "slave labour" and constant harassment by colony administration. The strike ended when she started having health problems and was placed on a drip in the prison hospital.

NOT GUILTY!
From what I can tell, it is more about foreign money(from the US) subsidizing the Civil Society NGOs in Russia.
You may recall John McCain tweeting to Putin that the Arab Spring was coming to Russia. Or, that those NGOers in Egypt were all convicted. Those American NGOers in Egypt were allowed to leave the country but were convicted in absentia.
The consensus of many around the world is that this NGO money from US AID and private sources like George Soros and others is being used to destabilize.
You bet it is.
The ideals behind America (not that I’m saying these are necessarily the same ones behind Soros, et al) are the most destabilizing in history.
At least for authoritarian regimes like those of Putin and Mubarak.
Blasphemy is not a crime. But it is a grave sin. Repentance is the gateway to forgiveness of sins, and to eternal salvation!!!!
I have much respect for human rights, but NO respect for the “human rightser” movement. They have done nothing but damage for 35 years, and created Robert Mugabe, Hezbollah control of Lebanon, the vile islamic states in the Balkans, etc., etc. Russia did well to kick them (and their money from Soros) out!!!!
They pretty much asked for what they got.
my wife say that all the time
possibly the last refuge of Christian European descended culture left standing in the world
but the weather?
great hunting though
and resources out the wazoo
and they need babies..like ever
I don’t think you know much about this case. The lady in question was part of a rock band, not a Human Rights organization. They protested the rather tyrannical rule of Putin and his collaboration with the Orthodox Church (which he uses for cover). After being jailed for her initial protest she wrote a letter about how nasty treatment was in Russian jails, so she was banished to Siberia.
I really do find people who sympathize with Putin around here damned disturbing. The guy is an unrepentant KGB tyrant.
By the comments on this thread, FR is becoming very split personality. “Russia did the right thing.” “Russia did the wrong thing”. I think I see why we get McCain, then we get Romney.
“Tolokonnikova had demanded to be transferred from her prior colony in Mordovia region. “
Well, she got her wish!
Any comments I post about Putin are intended to be snarky.
It’s just that he’s so appealing compared to Caliph Baraq.
“They protested the rather tyrannical rule of Putin “
She did this by making that sex orgy video when she was pregnant? Was that the protest statement you speak of?
How about running around the street of Russia naked and screaming and yelling?
Maybe it was the entering a church and disturbing the peace there?
After doing a search on her, all I see is the church incident. You have a cite for the rest?
Disturbing the peace at a church is hardly something worth being sent to Siberia for (unless of course one has rather authoritarian propensities).
“After doing a search on her, all I see is the church incident. You have a cite for the rest?”
Then you didn’t do a search for her. Impossible since she is all over the Internet.
I actually know a lot about this case. But you don’t seem to understand what is happening with Russia—reclaiming her Orthodox ethos.
Most Orthodox Christians support Putin, while recognizing his many flaws as well.

So I’m lying. Right, that makes for a great discussion. I ask for cites and you provide accusations.
Well I now know you’re not worth paying attention to. Then again your positions already made that apparent.
Yeah, sounds great. Almost as good as Sharia. Go get em.
You first. Send us a postcard from the Gulag to let us know how you're doing.
