November 04, 2013, 02:23 pm HealthCare.gov down, press call canceled
By Elise Viebeck
Federal health officials canceled a regular call with reporters Monday as ObamaCare's struggling online enrollment portal briefly crashed again.
HealthCare.gov was down and preventing users from starting applications for healthcare coverage on the federal marketplace as of mid-afternoon Monday.
ADVERTISEMENT A regular 1:30 p.m. call with the media was then rescheduled at 1:45 p.m., prompting questions about the nature of the outage. The site appeared functional again around 2:20 p.m.
An official with the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) blamed the call's postponement on change in schedule. The official did not announce another time for the daily phone briefing.
The troubling sign for HealthCare.gov comes as HHS rushes to repair the site before Nov. 30, a self-imposed deadline.
The portal has been taken offline at regular intervals for maintenance over the last month, including for 12 hours between Saturday and Sunday. It has also crashed at other times as the result of internal technical issues.
The site's problems on Monday did not appear linked to any announced repairs.
Bill Gates called in and told them that Ctrl-Alt-Del would fix the problem.
All these delays are worth it because Obamacare is saving everyone 2,500 dollars a year (just to start) on their policies.../sarc
“All crashes of the website are the fault of the Tea Party. We are doing our best, 24/7, with a tech surge, to overcome the obstacles to a smoothly running Healthcare.gov website that have been erected by the Tea Party.”
“We’re sorry, your call cannot be completed as dialed. Please call your Republican representatives and tell them to stop sabotaging this number.”
I think the word “crash” is very divisive, and it also may offend people who, for example, have been in really, really bad car accidents or who never get invited to parties. Perhaps we should call it...”operationally emergent”. Or, we could request a grant to develop a better terminology topology environment. Or, both.
Shouldn't that say:
ObamaCare's struggling online enrollment portal briefly operated again. ?
Did they turn it off and turn it on again?
So, have they ever answered the question: What happens if the website is down for the next 6 months?
Nice to see the regime bringing in gurus from Oracle, RedHat, and Google.
Because EVERY bug riddled mega project needs a few more big ego generals to inspire the infantry.
Wait a minute. CNN is saying Obamacare is showering the USA with skittles and rainbows. WTH?
6 other Obamacare promises - and these are very much coming true
