According to a recent report by the Congressional Budget Office (CBO), different generations have paid and will continue to pay disparate amounts of Medicare and Social Security payroll taxes, and they will also receive dissimilar amounts of Medicare and...

Yes, life is messy. Sorry.
It isn’t news, it’s a blog.
If it isn’t pimping then it’s self promotion.
Fact is homey wrote some obvious crap, broke it into several pages and expects paid for it.
Do you suppose that anyone writing a vanity post here deserves to be paid for it?
Thanks!
“Blogpimp” attacks the way the gang here does it looks like a bunch of blinged out self promotion too. Just sayin!
Please line out how you would have “blogpimp attacks”
done so as they might appear acceptable to you.

He seemed to make it clear that he WAS posting excerpts so that people would have to visit his blog, because he was a professional and deserved to be paid.
I don’t think he understood or appreciated the concept that full posts might actually make people want to visit his web site. Or maybe he knew that if people read his entire articles here, they would not want to read any more.
But his repeated comments to you about being a “freeloader” indicated that he felt anybody who wanted to read what he wrote without visiting his site were stealing from him.
And so I think what was said pretty much did indicate he would stop posting.
Is your assertion that blog pimps are the type of posters that would give money to the site, if they were welcome?
Because I’m thinking that the nature of a blog pimp is one of a person who would never leave an extra word or a dime if they didn’t believe they’d get more than their money’s worth back. They’d be bad tippers, and unlikely to sponsor a site.
Do you believe that the author is paid a salary to write for this web site, or do you think that he is one of many “contributers” for whom the site gives space.
If you read his stuff, do you believe that site has an editor that is proof-reading, checking for accuracy, or asking for sources and methods? Or does that site just provide a hosting service where one can put their words and get paid for hits?
There are many sites on the web that are blog sites, not news sites, but are “owned” by people. They try to look like news sites, but they are not doing original reporting, or operated under anything that would be considered a “news” paradigm. Repeating and commenting on things you read from other sites is a good indication that something is a blog.
No. I think the showboat type “blogpimps” attacks and other actions of that ilk are driving people and money away from FR. That’s not what the average FR member is here for. The average FR member is smart enough know what to ignore, and will ignore it on their own with out all the drama of driving off those horrible blogpimps.
Looks like William Tell got told....by the boss, himself.
The site is a subsidiary of TheStreet.com, described by them as
MainStreet provides personal finance tips and advice to help consumers grow their wealth and enhance their lives. By combining lifestyle news, commentary and financial resources, MainStreet is an engaging and fun site "where life and money intersect."
Of course, TheStreet has been around since the early days of the web.
Mainstreet has a large number of contributors way more than a group blog such as Power Line or Legal Insurrection as you can readily see with a simple google. How they are compensated and whether their compensation depends on the number of hits their articles get, I do not know. I highly doubt they are anything like full-time employees. I suspect they are freelancers who get spare change in the Paypal accounts.
A local news clip stays with me to this day, an adamant arrogant young black women made comments at an interview on why she demands social security, “I worked for 3 months as a bus driver and I am entitled to social security”! SSI is given away like candy and used as an unsupervised political slush fund.
I’m fine, my butt hurts only in your imagination. To you all, be real proud of yourselves;

If any of you think for even a second that posts of that ilk don’t have a negative effect on Free Republic think again. And while you are thinking about it think about how much slower the fundraising bar moves than it used to. Why even take it down? Run it continuously!
“I’ve received from folks I’ve referred to FR who would have gladly been monthly donors but for the constant excerpting and redirecting.”
The vast majority of threads posted contain offsite redirects - were those people talking about blogs specifically or redirects in general? For people used to going to mainstream media the redirects to full articles would naturally be a frustration.
” JimRob has made his point. He set up this site to have those interesting conversations and “original thinking” *here*.”
Huh, that is interesting. Right under the post button is this request; “NO personal attacks” Why then do we keep running into absolute crap like this:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/3086858/posts?page=43#43
That is interesting conversation and “original thinking”? It’s juvenile it’s personal attack - and there is no logical and reasonable defense for it.
