Society crumbles when it takes cues from the underclass
When Snooki, whose talents include getting sloppy drunk and throwing up on camera, made Barbara Walters’ “Ten Most Fascinating People” list a few years back, one could only ask: Was Octomom not available?
Last year, “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo,” which features a cornucopia of social ills, was TLC’s highest-rated show, attracting more cable viewers than the Republican National Convention, which had the misfortune to share the time slot with the charmers from Georgia. The show’s matriarch, June Shannon, has four daughters by four men, one of whose names she can’t recall.
White Trash is the new normal — and you don’t have to tune in to reality TV to rub elbows with pathologies that once stayed put in Skunk Hollow. White Trash Normal has invaded every nook and cranny of life, from table manners, to dress, to money management.
Remember when bouncing a check was shameful? Now apparently it’s shameful for banks to charge overdraft fees.....

And really... even though it’s a crazy household at least Honey Boo Boo isn’t being beaten bloody by jealous boy friends... at least not yet... who’s calling her a natural disaster? I mean God cares even about white trash (though He wants them to accept His blessing so they will cease to be trashy).

The media AND PEOPLE WHO COME TO IT TO BE MESMERIZED are thus responsible. People COULD refuse to watch this stuff you know. They’re being egged on to where they are willing to go.
The answer would be a new gospel revolution.
Call me naive. But God can do anything better than the devil can. However He may have to let the desire for Him become pent up enough to burst forth in effective power.
Well, Miley is just trash. She isn’t hick trash even though she is the daughter of a country artist. The country wants gen-u-wine HICK trash.
And I think there’s a good reason for that too. Hicks and rednecks are about the last bastion of the gospel. This is the latest truthy lie of Satan that people are digging into. (And if nobody dug into it, Satan wouldn’t get anywhere. People are the problem. Satan is a pip squeak compared to God.)
Don’t much about the show...but I bet all four individual fathers were blind...because Mama Honey Boo Boo is the homeliest woman on the planet
Well, if we’re going to talk about white trash, let’s first talk about ghetto “gangsta” culture...
This subject is treated much more in depth in the book "Class" by Paul Fussel, written decades ago.
I agree, but I take it back another step...the public schools spawn the members of the media...generation after generation of illiterate, undisciplined trash being turned loose on the rest of us.

Who could, but we have to say one thing for old Billy...He KNEW that he was white trash, and was proud of it.
As much as I hate to quote Bill Maher, he was right when he said this: “there is no longer any distinction between fame and infamy in society.”
Gossip, juicy scandal, and bad behavior have always been part of human culture, of course. But I can’t think of a time when bad behavior has ever been so rewarded by the general public. We celebrate trash-talk and ego trips in professional sports, make millionaire celebrities out of spoiled rich kids who have no talent other than to show off their naughty bits in a sex tape, and so on. The future Paddy Chayevsky depicted in Network seems sane by comparison.
