With much sadness I announce the loss of my oldest brother. "LanceyHoward". A heart attack was the cause. Words can hardly express the heartache this has caused our/his family. FreeRepublic was part of the "air" he breathed. His last contribution was a Comment the very day he died on Nagging Women, something his dear wife never was. Please pray for her, his three children, and two grandchildren. Thank you all the pleasure FreeRepublic brought him.
I always enjoyed Lancey’s posts and am very sorry to hear of his passing. I will pray for his family in this time of loss.

May he rest in God’s loving arms and may you, and his wife, family and dear friends
be comforted in these coming days.
I’m so sorry to learn of this loss to your family as well as our FR family. May Lancey be received with joy in the heavenly mansions.
Lancey was one of the best, proud of the Marines... and of their motto...he lived it.
He was one of the original Haditha warriors, fighting for those poor Marines shamelessly persecuted for political reasons and eventually proven to be innocent of everything except faithfully upholding their honor in fighting for our nation.
He was a go-to guy on military matters. He was a human. He was intelligent.
Rest in Peace, Marine.

I was reading his comments yesterday. Rest in peace bro Freeper. Prayers for you, and your family.
Lancey was one of the best. We met over a disagreement regarding the word “soldier” and how broadly it could be applied. We eventually agreed to disagree and drop it. Like you, I would take military questions to him automatically.
Justice, ethics, the state of the nation...he was on top of it and a very capable thinker and writer. He was a great read on Free Republic. He’ll be missed.
My condolences on your loss. His contributions on this forum were valuable and will be missed.
