Henry Repeating Arms to manufacture rifles in Wisconsin

BAYONNE, NEW JERSEY – Henry Repeating Arms, the leading lever action rifle manufacturer headquartered in Bayonne, N.J., will begin manufacturing their steel centerfire rifles in their Rice Lake, Wisconsin facility in 2014. To date the Wisconsin plant has supplied the Bayonne operation with many components used in all Henry models including receivers, bolts, sights and other internal parts. Several million dollars of new computerized machining equipment was invested in the Wisconsin facility to support the manufacturing of the company’s caliber .30-30 and .45-70 rifles and to increase the volume of the components produced for its rimfire rifles.

Henry Repeating Arms purchased the 138,000 sq ft Rice Lake facility in 2006 from Wright Products, a subsidiary of FKI Industries, who manufactured their own line of storm door hardware. Wright also supplied components to other industries including Henry Repeating since 1998. Wright ceased manufacturing due to price pressure in the hardware industry, causing hundreds of lost jobs. Henry purchased the building and manufacturing equipment and retained 17 experienced employees. Today the company employs over 100 people and continues to hire to support its continued growth. Anthony Imperato, President and owner of the company states, “I am proud of what we’ve accomplished in Wisconsin by saving jobs, adding jobs, and creating a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. I decided to expand our operations here because of the outstanding job our employees do to help us meet increased demand”.

I wanted one, too, just for the fun of it. I settled on the .30/30 brass. And an AR-7. In camo. Next up, a Golden Boy. The dealer didn’t have a Mare’s leg at the time.

Good deal, here in Alaska, we've been hunting with ARs for the last 20 years. Best thing to happen is the 6.8 Stag, 338 Fed, and for me the 308 Scar. My .556s & 223s never leave the gun safe anymore. I prefer loading 168 TTSXs & A-Frames for my semi autos. We got a few caribou, blk bear, and my nephew got a grizzly bear with my Scar in late August. My favorite scope is 3.5X35 Acog with red dot / ghost ring reticle.

In rural Alaska, everybody favors military rifles for hunting. I really like the 2 point slings off snowmachine & 4 wheeler. Do ya hunt with your guns?

I am not a hunter, but I have AK builds in lots of flavors.

If I was in Alaska I would carry .308 or 762x54R

That should do it at 500 yards

To anyone reading this, you might enjoy “American Guns: A History of America in 10 Guns” … or something. I did not memorize the title.

It just came out by Chris Kyle posthumously who is the recently deceased Seal sniper of “American Sniper”. I’m reading it now.

I am very exited about the one on the bottom

It has a ghost ring site and a nice red/green dot optic that has 2X and is night vision compatible, and is chambered for 5.45x39 which is as cheap to shoot today as 22LR.

It is a tack driver

Why do we fish for muskies?

Because they are worthy opponents.

Hook one and hang on.
You’ll save gas as they will haul you all around to the honey holes for hours

Someone who knows how needs to spread the message that the December issue of Guns and Ammo has an article on the last page by Dick Metcalf trying to explain to us rednecks and survivalists don’t really understand that the second amendment actually means arms should be regulated. and that gun owners should be trained by the state.

The word needs to get out.

Welcome to Wisconsin, Henry Repeating...

Wisconsin is becoming a gun friendly state.

My local technical college just completed a new firing range that will be open to the public. They also have very high quality CCW courses, dirt cheap, taught by their law enforcement staff that goes beyond the state requirements with time in their simulators. Under $40 and you get one on one time in scenarios with quality instructors.

...and my local police chief went to businesses encouraging them to NOT post the “no weapons” signs in their businesses after the CCW law was passed. It makes me laugh when I pass the pacifist, fair-trade store and fail to see a “no weapons” sign in the window. I can carry my sidearm and buy elephant dung paper notepads.

Now, we need to get rid of the anachronistic 48 hour waiting period for handgun sales.

“Now, we need to get rid of the anachronistic 48 hour waiting period for handgun sales.”

And the insane Gun Free School Zone law.

The local pawn shop had a pair of Rossi Ranch Hands in .357 a couple of months ago. Don't see those very often.

Interesting - the BX at Keesler AFB had a couple last time I looked. Finally got some Base/Wing leadership to re-institute selling firearms/ammo on the old air pad.

I have a Henry Big Boy in 45 Colt I use for CAS and it is indeed heavy, but a hoot to shoot.
