Following the violent gang-rape of a New Delhi woman last year that made international headlines, engineering students in India have created anti-rape underwear that they say will prevent sexual assault.
Called Society Harnessing Equipment, or SHE, the device will deliver up to 82 electric shocks of 3,800 kV to an attacker, according to The Times of India. To prevent the wearer from being shocked, SHE's inner side is "insulated with a polymer," according to creators Niladri Basu, Manisha Mohan and Rimpi Tripathy, students at SRM University, Chennai.
The device is also equipped with GPS that can deliver alerts to police and the victim's parents.
"Lawmakers take ages to come up with just laws and even after that, women are unsafe," said Mohan and Tripathy. "Hence, we have initiated the idea of self-defense, which protects the women from domestic, social and workplace harassment."
They added that they plan to incorporate Bluetooth into SHE, so "stress messages" can be sent instantly.
(Get it? Not only are they social activists but they're marketing geniuses as well, deciding that this product must be called SHE, even though no conceivable combination of words could possibly conjure up an appropriate acronym that makes the slightest sense. But just so that they get to call it SHE)(SHEESH!)
Men, gay men that is, would also benefit from the safety and security of this product as they are similarly susceptible to, victims of a form of rape known as Male Rape. You probably never thought of, realized the existence of any such phenomena as Male Rape and neither did I, until I came across information about it at the New York City Alliance Against Sexual Assault website.
And once you think about it, it makes perfect sense. I mean, why should heterosexuals be the only ones victimized, brutalized, traumatized, scarred for life, in the aftermath of a sexually depraved act of abomination, violation by some depraved fudge-packing Sodomite. If anything, they should be the only victims of just such an acts of depravity.
The fact is, I'm not in the slightest bit concerned about gay victims of Male Rape and in no way do I give a rat's behind in my concern to advocate the use of this product towards making their lives safer or more secure. I'm just trying to make a point... Which is, they are every bit as viable a customer for this product as the women this product is intended for,(I know, I really went far and wide, probably went to too much trouble to make this comment, which is) they can just as readily acquire the product to secure their safety and security as women might, except all they would have to do is to wear the damm thing backwards..

Factsheets: Male Rape
There were approximately 4,890 rapes of males age 12 and over in the United States in 1994. The rate for rapes of males was .8 per 1,000 persons age 12 or older. (Bureau of Justice Statistics, 1997)
In 1985, the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Statistics reported in The Crime of Rape that there were 123,000 male rapes over a ten-year period. (Bureau of Justice Statistics, 1985).
Overview
Society is becoming increasingly aware of male rape. However, experts believe that current male rape statistics vastly under-represent the actual number of males age 12 and over who are raped each year. Rape crisis counselors estimate that while only one in 50 raped women report the crime to the police, the rates of under-reporting among men are even higher (Brochman, 1991). Until the mid-1980s, most literature discussed this violent crime in the context of women only. The lack of tracking of sexual crimes against men and the lack of research about the effects of male rape are indicative of the attitude held by society at large -- that while male rape occurs, it is not an acceptable topic for discussion.
Historically, the rape of males was more widely recognized in ancient times. Several of the legends in Greek mythology involved abductions and sexual assaults of males by other males or gods. The rape of a defeated male enemy was considered the special right of the victorious soldier in some societies and was a signal of the totality of the defeat. There was a widespread belief that a male who was sexually penetrated, even if it was by forced sexual assault, thus "lost his manhood," and could no longer be a warrior or ruler. Gang rape of a male was considered an ultimate form of punishment and, as such, was known to the Romans as punishment for adultery and the Persians and Iranians as punishment for violation of the sanctity of the harem (Donaldson, 1990).
so rapists will just beat the living crud out of the girl till she takes her draws off. have they engineered against that???
That was my thought too.
This product’s effectiveness is inversely proportionate to the number of devices sold. The more widespread its use, the less effective it becomes when would-be rapists take the very precautions you suggested.
I would think that one to the chest may be a better alternative.
Just don’t put your underwear on inside out.
Now that’s gonna cause some “shrinkage”.
Perhaps they have a newly developed polymer that I am not aware of but in my experience wearing a polymer next to the skin tends to promote perspiration because of polymer fabrics prevention of the perspirations evaporative cooling of the skin.
Now because of this fact I cant see this device gaining much popularity in India given that much of the country has a rather warm climate.
My guess is that the users of this product would have a high incidence of heat stroke.
NOTHING is perfect with underwear ... they don 't always sit right and they certainly never come off without SOMEthing rolling .. a band or whatever.
Thus ... anything around my genitals (and I would assume a lady's as well) capable of zapping an assailant is also capable of zapping me.
That's right officer ... I'll never be able to have children but that potential rapist will now sit in jail for 6 months.
Needless to say, it was an idea that was shocking, to say the least, didn't last very long.
This thing seems to have a decent amount of zapping capability. Where does the battery pack go? (*cough*)
Now don’t go getting your panties in a Watt.
Using this product on damp skin may cause your shorts to short.
Somewhere in the Affordable Care Act, I am sure that there is a requirement for all Americans to wear these...”Gotta protect the folks” and know where they are at all times and who they are having sex with.
How about this?
A South African doctor has created a female condom that puts teeth in the fight against rape.
Literally.
The anti-rape condom, called “Rape-aXe,” features rows of jagged hooks designed to attach to a man’s penis during penetration. Once attached, the condom can only be removed by a doctor

It would not surprise me.
I’m thinking something like that jaws trap from an old James Bond movie where some guy tried to lift JB’s wallet from inside his coat and these metal jaws snapped down on his fingers almost severing them.
Always wondered what made it feel so good.
