PPPs newest national survey finds that in the wake of the shutdown, Republican voters now view Ted Cruz as their partys leader. 21% picked Cruz to 17% for Chris Christie, and 15% for John Boehner. Cruz finished well ahead of the other GOP Senators we tested- Rand Paul got 9%, John McCain 7%, and Mitch McConnell only 4%. Mitt Romney at 8% and Sarah Palin at 4% were the other people we tested.
Numbers PPP will release next week show Ted Cruz would be an exceedingly weak Presidential candidate in the general election. The good news for the GOP is that even if the party base sees Cruz as their leader, Democrats and independents actually see Chris Christie, who has far broader approval, as the leader of the Republican Party these days.

Could be because he is a leader! A much needed thing today but really scary to the media...
I really don’t give a flying ______ what the D@mned Democrats think. Let them stir their own cesspool.
The Democrats are picking who they want to run against, just like they did with Dole Mccain and Romney.
Exactly. They are telling who they fear—and who they don’t. They want Christie to be the nominee—because he’s less attractive than the Old Hag. They want a candidate that Hillary! can beat.
Virtually every poll showed Ronald Reagan a bust for the GOP...Democrats were dancing in the streets when he won the nomination.....reporters were aghast and saying “I don’t know anyone who voted for him” after he shellacked “Jimmuh” Carter!!!! Ted Cruz is an unknown to most....when he starts to speak in an election and shows what a leader he is the people will follow him. If what they say is true how do they explain this...

PPP has connections to the commie propagandists at the Washington Post.
. . . and you’re citing the NYT. Even worse, Nate Silver.
Sounds like the DNC want Christie real bad because they can beat him. Folks in the South and West will not vote for a GOP Liberal.
