A United States maritime company is negotiating the ransom for two American mariners kidnapped off the coast of Nigeria last week, U.S. government officials told ABC News. Sources briefed on the matter said third-party agents had made contact with the hostage-takers, who have not been publicly identified, and talks to free the men are under way.The U.S. government is not considering any type of military operation to rescue the seamen, officials said.

The kidnapped men, employees of the maritime transportation company, Edison Chouest Offshore, have only been identified as the captain and chief engineer of the C-Retriever, an oil supply vessel. The U.S. government itself has a longstanding policy against complying with ransom demands, but private companies are not subject to such a policy.

The FBI is assisting in the matter but is not negotiating directly with the kidnappers, sources said.

Their ship was found but the hostages have been moved inland. France just paid $28 million to have four of their hostages freed by Al Qaeda.

I wonder how may murders will be funded by that $28 million?

We should write off the hostages and kill the hostage takers along with their families and anybody in their proximity for, say, a 1 mile radius.

Do this twice and I bet the problem stops.

The U.S. government is not considering any type of military operation to rescue the seamen,

If Obama would not save the lives of 4 Americans, one of them an Ambassador , the lives of two American sailors don’t even phase him.

I agree, find out where they are and take out the whole town.

Lots.

We should write off the hostages and kill the hostage takers along with their families and anybody in their proximity for, say, a 1 mile radius.

Or, just make this one exception and then unleash hell on them, their families, their friends, their bankers, their grocers, their drivers and other acquaintances.

Do this twice and I bet the problem stops.

Yup, unless you can really do it right the first time. Unfortunately, Obie is not up to it.

I have always thought that we went about the “War on Terror” all wrong.

Sure we should kill the terrorists. But there will always be more of them.

Instead we should have gone after the money, where ever the money trail led. Where it lead to individuals, we should have stolen or destroyed their assets and wiped out the entire family. Where it lead to companies and corporations, we should have stolen and destroyed their assets, and wiped out their leadership. Where it lead to countries, we should have arranged “accidents” for their major infrastructure, commerce, and for their leaders.

No arrests. No trials. No public spectacle. Just large numbers of “accidents” and “lone gunmen” and “workplace violence.”

Instead we wasted trillions on losing game.

Oh, well.
