In current dollars that was $2-per-week increase. However, when adjusted for inflation, median earnings actually declined from the second to the third quarter, according to BLS. …

Well, think of it this way . . . those who argue we can’t compete with cheap labor will see this as a positive development.

“...until we see MADE IN AMERICA.”

I agree, but who in their right mind would move anything of consequence back or start one up in this environment?

I’m sure there are some groups whose wages are up significantly, eh?

Some argue that we simply haven't raised taxes on ourselves high enough.

It is bad enough that our gov coddles the non-productive, but they have declared war on the productive. We are doomed if this doesn’t change.

The recession that began under Bush was over a long time ago.

This is Great Depression II. Sure, people are eating, but that is only because this territory once known as “the United States of America” still has a lot of carrion and oozing fat to feed the vultures and jackals.

The real litmus test is looking at the steady INCREASE in virtual money supply, and the very low actual increase in actual price and wage levels. The economy is in fact contracting, not merely stagnant.

Raise the import tariffs. Put Americans back to work. Restore American industry.

"Well, think of it this way . . . those who argue we can’t compete with cheap labor will see this as a positive development."

Nobody sees a drop in real wages as positive.

Competing against communist slave labor is going to eventually drive our real wages down to their level and destroy what industries we have left. And 1rudeboy will still be cheering them on.

And that’s my point: how high do you wish to raise my taxes so that other people’s take-home pay goes up? I’m sure to benefit from the economic prosperity that follows. /s

You are still advocating raising taxes to make industry come back. That won’t work.

“Raise the import tariffs. Put Americans back to work. Restore American industry.”

That horse already left the gate, long ago.

Until we are willing to address WHY the jobs left America in the first place, you just wasting air....

Only tariff on imports. Product made here will be tariff free. The opposite of 'free trade' where product made here pays the taxes and imports don't.

Yes, but the products made here will still have the full weight of US government taxes and regulations bearing down on their every move. With the added bonus of being taxed on anything they earn off shore, plus the ability to be sued to ruin at any time for any reason for any amount. All while being excoriated for being an evil business, a 1%er, and a greedy capitalist at every turn in the press and on the street.
