While we are just speculating, This sounds like a disgruntled former employee... T3 is Southwest/Virgin and whoever handles ground for Spirit and Allegiant.

It could certainly be a disgruntled employee, although I think it’s a little odd that there were two of them. It’s usually hard for a disgruntled employee to convince a buddy to come out with him and help him express his workplace grievances as the risk of death.
So I’m assuming they thought they were making some kind of statement, although I certainly can’t imagine what it was.
