Nearly 2 million New Yorkers who rely on food stamps will have less to spend at the supermarket starting Friday and it may only be the beginning.
The average family of four on food stamps is expected to lose $36 each month, according to the Department of Agriculture, because funding added to the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program in 2009 under the federal stimulus program ran out Thursday.

I am sincerely hoping the 6000 SNAP recipients in my County of Pickens are FORCED to actually read the employment section of the newspaper, for once. They seriously need to start waking up before 11 AM and start losing some EL BEEs.

Maybe if they tightened up on the participants and weeded out that minority who were abusing the program then they would have enough for those who truly need food stamps and wouldn’t have to cut them?
Going to work for 5 hours, even at minimum wage, would make that differnce up.
Ya know if they would really just help the needy instead of signing as many as possible then there would be no problem. Just stop giving to some. Don’t cut across the board.

Make them payback 36 dollars a month.
I know many will scoff at the thought of Americans receiving taxpayer assistance to buy food.
But I find it hard to critize when so much more of our tax dollars goes to things like bridges to nowhere, the muslin brotherhood, used to buy votes, unconstitutional wars/conflicts, planned parenthood, and many other illegitmate things.
How about all the bail-out money that none of us have ever seen? Didn’t we ‘give’ sophisticated fighter jets to Egypt recently? Taiwan at least pays for them.
$360/month (or more) increase in health care premium = WHADDYA WHINING FOR?
