It is not in Obama and Democrat's interest to have remnants of the private insurance system around to take back over if people repeal Obamacare.
Disagree all you like. The insurance companies will survive just as they have with Medicare. Nine out of ten Medicare recipients have supplemental insurance. We will have within 20 years twice as many on Medicare as we have now.
Insurance companies exist in other countries that have single payer systems including the UK. We will have one system for the great unwashed and another for those who have money. Boutique medicine is already a fact in the US. You can pay an annual fee and have a special group practice provide you services. No waiting lines, appointments, etc. It is personalized health care for those who can afford it. The best doctors and hospitals will gravitate in that direction.
It is not in Obama and Democrat's interest to have remnants of the private insurance system around to take back over if people repeal Obamacare.
First, he will not be able to eradicate the private insurance companies, which actually will help cement Obamacare in place. Second, it will almost be impossible to repeal Obamacare now. They will mend it, not end it. Hillary or whoever is the Dem nominee in 2016 will make sure that no repeal is done. The reelection of Obama sealed our fate.
