Holding an apparently authentic looking AK47 is sheer idiocy, but 13 year old males do stupid things. This kid's father or mother obviously didn't warn him of danger in doing this.

This COULD be 'suicide by cop' but my spidey sense tells me the cop overreacted and has a 'war hero' complex. If the kid raised the 'firearm' towards the cop, GAME OVER, but this all happening within 10 seconds requires THOROUGH investigation. An AK47 round can easily go through the door of a vehicle, so I have to give the benefit of the doubt to the Sheriff, as much as I don't trust them.

Sorry. I do NOT give the cops the ‘benefit of the doubt’ when they engage American citizens under far looser rules of engagement than do our soldiers in Afghanistan when THEY engage TERRORISTS!!!

That’s right! A freaking Taliban TERRORIST gets more consideration from the US government as to their ‘rights’ than does a 13 year old boy playing in his own neighborhood in suburban America.

See, if this kid has been in Afghanistan carrying a REAL Ak-47 he would not have been shot unless he fired first. And if he had been shot first the US soldier would be tried for a crime.

Therefore, so should this deputy be tried for a crime.

No dice. Based on the facts thus far the kid was walking away from the direction of the cop who didn’t identify himself or give the kid enough time to comply with an order.

Cop erred.

Holding an apparently authentic looking AK47 is sheer idiocy,...

A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

I hear what you are saying, but it is a shame that we have yielded our right to keep and bear arms. In a Second Amendment world, the boy should have been able to carry an authentic AK47 without fear of being taken down by assailants who were offended that he was exercising his Second Amendment rights.

I don’t! Then get behind the whole length of the car for heaven sakes! Not just the car door! Bunch of cowardly cops if you ask me their own lives are more important than even the slightest possibility of being shot. That slight possibility is part of the job! get out if you cannot deal with it.

I was surfing the internet when I heard shots fired outside. I grabbed my 9mm and went to the door. A figure with a gun came out of the hedge about 20 foot from where I was standing. Turned out to be a neighbor who was chasing down a raccoon who had ripped his trash barrel apart. He was stupid but luckily I didn’t feel like killing anyone that day.

“This COULD be ‘suicide by cop’...”

At best this is Darwin Award by cop. More likely once removed because the parents didn’t give him ‘the talk.’

I don't know where I should tell you this or not, but as of then the State of California was under the Constitution of the United States of America and the second Amendment the. Implied is that one can carry said arm outside of one's abode. that Constitution gives the Citizens of America the right to keep and bear arms. Without being shot down like a rabid dog by the first cop that sees him.

Now, if we are no longer living under the Constitution, anything goes, and we cower in our homes until given permission by the police to leave said home.
