Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), the political face of the recent government shutdown, will make his first late night TV appearance on Nov. 8 when he guests on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
Cruzs appearance reflects the increasingly common trend of political figures, no matter how controversial, venturing into late night, often in hopes of softening their image or reaching audiences normally not tuned in to politics. Cruz is mentioned as a possible candidate in 2016, and his appearance would be in line with other past candidates who have appeared in late night in advance of a run. In 2010, Mitt Romney appeared on Late Show with David Letterman as he promoted his pre-campaign tome, No Apology.
In a press release, NBC said that Cruz will discuss the government shutdown, the debt ceiling, Washington gridlock and the state of the Republican party.
IMO that's hilarious - their signs are labeled to tell them which side faces out! I wonder what it says on the reverse side?
I got to watch it!!!
‘Ambush’ is the ONLY reason NBC is having Ted Cruz on. The ONLY reason. Leno is no conservative and will be more than happy to snipe and jab at Cruz in concert with the RIGGED ‘Applause/No Applause’ sign on behalf of NBC/G.E./Team Soros.
"you may collect your 20 dollar payment for appearing today as you exit the facilty"
Leno is going up against an IQ of 168. Cruz will be stellar and Jay will treat him well.
I don’t remember 12” TV. I recall 13” and 17” and 21” and 23”, which may have been the largest possible then. I thought the shows were better then, but we were much easier to please. What Newton Minow called a “vast wasteland” is now definitely the norm.
I never watch these shows (I thought Leno got fired), and I’m guessing there are quite a few others of similar habit, so could someone tell us what time Leno is on?
Ah geez... really?
I am so damn sick of our pop culture politics. Would’ve liked to think of Cruz as above this.
I have yet to be disappointed by Cruz. I will watch.
You don’t know Cruz yet. He can sling country boy krap with the best. Yarns and one liners are part of his shtick and I’m not seeing Leno with any kind of edge. He can talk old boy Texan or Hahvaad cheapshiz in the same sentence. Gonna be fun to watch.
Everyone should hear in what high esteem Dershowitz holds Cruz - ( one of smartest students hes had )

That would be awesome! They could tag team Leno - who is basically a good guy, IMHO.
I'll watch, but if Cruz appears on Letterman, well, that would be a deal breaker.

Well, you know, whitey can't dance, he has no rhythm or soul, and he can't jump in the basketball arena./s
You think so? I think G.E./NBC/Leno was ordered by Team Barry to do a ‘make good’ for all the 0bamacare, NSA, Benghazi, and IRS jokes Lenos been doing lately.

His wife, Mavis I think her name is, went to Middle East (I think Afghanistan, to help women & girls get into schools and other stuff such as that, without them being killed by the honor killing knuckle dragging men.
I don't remember why or when she quit but whatever the reason, I don't blame her for bugging out.
She seemed to actually care for Afghan women and girls and didn't flaunt it like Angelina Jolie does.
I don’t doubt it. Don’t take what I said the wrong way. I think Leno is probably a liberal, but he might certainly be a nice person. I just think that his show isn’t necessarily a venue where he’ll be overtly political. Thats all.

Maybe trying to appeal to boomers and whatever the next generation is called.
Repubs. not very good at getting positive face time (unless you are McCain or Miss Lindsey who are losers and should sit down and shut it - they only hurt the party).
I don't know Leno's target audience.
Good venue and good candidate to prove Repubs. are not shape shifting lizards! Audience may find themselves even liking a Republican!
Cruz will have to walk a fine line but I think he can do it.
Cruz, Palin, et al, show the GOP is not your father's GOP.
That was “Arec Barwin”.
No.
No it was Marky Mark, the one I’m speaking of.
It is here, but the media being possessed by the enemy as it is, will not allow a hollywood figure to be seen with a conservative figure, it will not allow it, and it is up to the Freepers to believe that it happened and that the media has been possessed.
