House to Take Up 'Keep Your Health Plan Act'
Weekly Standard ^ | Oct 29, 2013 | Daniel Halper

Posted on 10/30/2013 6:01:22 AM PDT by Innovative

Last night, Fred Upton, the Republican chairman of the of the Committee on Energy and Commerce, introduced the "Keep Your Health Plan Act of 2013." The goal is simple: To allow people who like their health care plans to keep them for the next year under Obamacare.

The bill's number is H.R. 3350, and I'm told that House Republicans will be able to "move this."

Are Republicans insane -- trying to save Obamacare?!

That is just one of the many-many disastrous features of Obamacare.

Republicans should be working on a comprehensive alternative and sell that to the American people before the 2014 elections.

Nice buzz phrase but there already is a similar grandfather clause in the Obamcare that doesnt work.

The only way to fix this is allow insurance companies outside of exchanges to offer policies without federal mandates.

That’s stupid and ridiculous. Do they think insurers are going to leave things as they are for another year? Many have already been dropped and insurers will continue on their current path to comply in a year.

Will the TEA Party be able to field enough candidates who can “Primary-Out” the incumbent Democrats and the Democrat-supportive RINOs politicians in the up-coming 2014 Congressional Election, and thus reduce the crippling Democrat Blight that has plagued our Republic for the past 5 years?

Are Republicans insane -- trying to save Obamacare?!

What are they gonna do -- force private insurance companies to stay in business?

Just why would the Repubs attempt to resusitate nobamacare? Let it die on the sidewalk. The LIB/DIM fiasco has already done much damage; however, until the populace stop electing DIMs’LIBs, this sort of commie crawl will continue. Let people suffer and let the LIBs/DIMs own it. RINOs need to grow a pair.

Run out the legislative clock on comprehensive immigration reform.

I'd prefer that Boehner adjourn the House until January 2014. There are millions of voters that are going to need help applying for insurance, now that they've received cancellation notices thanks to Obamacare.

The GOP is trying to keep the UnAffordable Healthcare Act. “a flote” by trying to let people keep their old insurance plans. They can try but I don’t see it happening because the costs of administering the ACA due to the stipulations the government has given them (no pre-existing conditions, covering maternity, and providing birth control, etc...) has caused the price of insurance to rise. Insurance companies use actuaries for a reason. It keeps them in the black. When you promise 4 leaf clovers, unicorns, and rainbows for all it costs money and liberals aren’t good when it comes to reality. Their math skills aren’t that good...

The way to do it is to offer a comprehensive bill with as high a deductible as the purchaser wants as an alternative choice allowed instead of Obamacare. That would work if it's totally between the private insurance company and the purchaser what's covered and what the cost is. That way the consumer could get a policy that costs next to nothing that covers next to nothing.

This bill that's being offered is dumb. What are they going to do? Force the private market to keep offiering policies?

This is made to play to low information voters as usual. What the Republicans can’t seem to get through their heads, at least most of them, this won’t get any play in the low information news. No one will remember their attempt at a placebo. They get noticed, and get news when the do something bold, like call out their enemies. And yes, the Democrats currently in power are our enemies.

Well I cannot explain it.

First it is too late. The cancellations have already gone out, and second why screw around with it for a year? This bill is just a waste of time IMO.

Yeah... but how?

Does the bill tell insurance companies they cannot cancel old policies? Where’s the meat?

Its a fairy tale dream. They won’t be able to do it because of the mandates the feds have foisted upon them which is the REAL reason insurance policies have gone up but the feds will deny it and never admit it because they live in Obama’s New Fairytale Land...this proposal is a pipe dream. Won’t happen IMO

Just envision Stalin and Hitler having control of the MSM, the Internet, and the educational system. We would surely be peaking Russian or German

Out-of-pocket is supposedly capped at $6500 or so, which is (amazingly) below the deductible amount for several policies I have heard about (up to $12K).

The policy parameters of Obamacare will have to be discarded almost completely for the current policies to match the requirements of the law. But I'm sure this bill does not do that - it simply makes another empty promise.
