Antony Piazza is stopped at Pierre Trudeau Airport during security screening early Sunday morning.
Piazza was stopped at Pierre Trudeau Airport during security screening early Sunday morning when bomb components -- but no actual explosives -- were found in his carry-on luggage, and his duplex in the Montreal suburb of La Salle was searched, according to media reports from Montreal.
Antony Piazza, who changed his name from Houshang Nazemi in 1986, ...
A native of Tehran, Iran, Piazza moved to Canada in 1979. In 1985, he was sentenced to 10 years in prison for drug trafficking, according to CBC News in Montreal, which also reported that Piazza could face another 10 years if convicted of the latest charges.

“Man, 71, facing charges after bomb-making materials found at Montreal airport”
SNIPPET: “Piazzas defence lawyer, Louis Morena, revealed the objects in the carry-on hes accused of putting through security.
Theyre talking about bullets, theyre talking about powder, theyre talking about wire, theyre talking about briquette, Morena told reporters.”
I don’t see why he would need to carry bomb parts into the U.S. They can all be easily procured in the U.S.
Sounds like a live pistol round and some wire, this the “explosive” charge for the smokless powder. What’s briquette? Charcoal?
Hope the police searched Barry Steven Dunham, native of Iran and who changed his name from Mohammed Ackmed Hussein, who was seated two rows over for the last bomb making component.
Except that none of them were explosive. So what does that leave?

“Bail hearing postponed for man arrested at Trudeau airport”
BY PAUL CHERRY, GAZETTE CRIME REPORTER OCTOBER 29, 2013
MONTREAL
SNIPPET: “In the end, a defence lawyer informed Poulin that a colleague from his law office, Franco Iezzoni, will take the case. The lawyer asked that Piazza’s bail hearing be postponed to Nov. 6 because Iezzoni needs time to become familiar with the evidence in the case.”
SNIPPET: “In 2008, while Piazza lived in Verdun, he told police he had lived in St. Hippolyte the two previous years. He also said that despite being semi-retired, he still ran a video-rental company in Notre-Dame-de-Grâce. The company specialized in offering Iranian films to Montrealers. Piazza, who left Iran in 1979, also told police at the time that he had been convicted of drug trafficking in 1985, when he went by the name Houshang Nazemi.
Lawrence Klein, co-founder and vice-president of Thought Technology Ltd., a company that manufactures medical electronics also used for elite athletes in training, said he was stunned to learn that the upright businessman he knew simply as Tony was arrested at the airport on Sunday and had previously served a 10-year prison term for heroin trafficking.
“Tony was just a regular guy,” Klein said of Piazza, a man he needed to rely on often to transfer Thought Technology’s videos from a format used in North America to one used in Europe. Piazza’s video store was located a short distance from Thought Technology’s former location on Belgrave Ave.”
